Christine Collister Appreciation Society (Word massive Division)

So, here we are. My favourite singer in the world, one I've introduced many friends to, nearly all of whom have been hugely impressed. I haven't listened to all the clips on youtube, and it's a bit disappointing that there are very few of her performing her own songs, some of which are very good indeed. But for a pure and sweet rendition of a lovely song, we could do a lot verse than Time In A Bottle.

Any other acolytes?

Good man, Azeem.

Count me amongst the CC faithful. I first saw her supporting Richard Thompson in about '93 / '94 and was utterly captivated by that voice - the best singer I've ever heard. This is a great song, her version is better than Roddy Frame's original, I think.

As you say, shame there isn't more of her original stuff on YouTube.

A glorious singer

Saw her in Stroud couple of years back. Just her and her guitar for 2 hours held me spellbound.
Signed her CDs at the interval and was a delight to speak to.

She is lovely

I've seen her so many times that she always says hello and remembers my name. Her warmth is entirely consistent with the warmth of her singing.

Sign me up

My first CC experience was simultaneous with my first Richard Thompson one (she was in his band at Cropredy in 1987) and I've been smitten ever since.

Absolutely top notch...

in whatever context I've ever seen her - solo, with Clive Gregson or as part of RT's band. She is a sublime singer IMHO.

Where do I sign?

Something about her voice leaves me spellbound. I could listen to her all day.

Home and Away?

Her portastudio recorded live album with Clive Gregson is a delightful listen, hear her laughing as an overexcited dog in the crowd joins in.
ALso her solo version of Costello's I want to Vanish betters the original IMHO.

I'm in

First saw her on TV with RT as part of his band along with Clive Gregson in '85.

Followed her and Clive and the criminally few albums they made together - one of which was of covers. 'Love Is A Strange Hotel' and 'Move Away, Jimmy Blue' are two of the best covers you will hear by anyone anywhere.

Finally saw her live at Warwick Arts Centre in 2001 supporting RT. She was brilliant. And she's beautiful.

You've reminded me I have a cassette somewhere of an album she made with Clive Gregson. (goes to cupboard) and there it is! 'Mischief' it's called. Wow, I'm going to enjoy discovering this all over again. Thanks.

Does anyone remember when

Christine was an occasional correspondent for the Radio 2 Folk Show? I hoped that would raise her profile a bit - Wogan played her a couple of times - I emailed his producer (the now sadly departed Paul Walters) asking for more CC, but no luck! With the 'blessing' of someone like Wogan she could break through..

Here's one of hers

Ashlands, the first song from Into The Light. A lovely song, which showcases the gorgeous bottom end of her range (sounds a bit rude...).

And Adman, she was also on Woman's Hour - apparently Jenni Murray referred to her as "middle aged", which didn't go down to well!

Nice one...

Myself and the GLW just watched that - not a pin could be heard dropping.

Middle aged? Pah! She's just getting started...

Now that's a list of singers!

While & Matthews - they should be famous too - brilliant singers & songwriters.
