Am going to have a spare Saturday in Chicago in October as part of a business trip - havent been in the downtown area before - can some of you nice Word people recommend the best 'Record' stores in the city?
Thanks

there's some great record shops in chicago
http://www.jazzmart.com/
for one... there's also a good indie / secondhand one near the Metro venue that I can't recall the name of (but I got some great Barry White LPs there about 5 years ago)
EDIT: whatever you do, DO NOT have a "chicago pizza pie" - they are REVOLTING
Make sure you "go" before you go out
The only time I was in Chicago, the toilet stalls in more than one bar were just that – no doors, just parallel half-walls reaching about shoulder height. Don't know about you, Steve, but I'm not all that keen on having men with, ahem, their hands full watching me "drop the kids off at the pool".
The only record shop I could find in Chicago
was Borders, and that wasn't up to much. I think I was looking in the wrong places, clearly.
And I second the pizza pie thing - don't do it. They're vile. Go to Rush Street instead.

The one on N Milwaukee Ave is particularly good. Last time I was there there were a number of other reasonable stores in this area, although I was recently in Greenwich Village and found that a number of my favourite record shops there had closed. So they may, sadly have suffered the same fate.
I would also recommend the Navy Pier and Art Institute of Chicago Museum.
