Spooky
I recently posted this on another thread:
No way..
Wonder if they did a joint encore?
"Dis-mem-mem, dis-mem-mem-member.."
Ha ha! I was at the Zeppelin gig...
I was 15.
Chas and Dave went down well.
Todd didnt.
Wunt mind a copy of that poster though, where you get?
I too was there
and I can't remember a thing about the weekend at all, except "Kashmir".
I was there as well-
I remember Todd suddenly pointing to someone near the stage and saying" Hey! There's an NME reporter butt-f***ing a security guard". I can't remember what provoked his outburst
awwww
i was there on 4th (the day the New Barbarians didn't play) ... but i did see Chas & Dave and was suitably bemused as a 16 year old ...

Einstürzenden Neubauten and Showaddwady
That's got to be untoppable.
Zepp poster - they're on Ebay - but going for around £150ish
I was there....
200,000 people singing "Gertcha" is an unforgettable sight :-)
The posters are available from Freddie Bannister's daughter for £6.95 along with all the other Bannister-promoted Knebworths

Didn't Chas and Dave once have some creds?
I remember when one of them had all his gear stolen and offered a huge reward for it to be returned, and no questions asked. I offered an even huger reward for it not to be returned.
However - and I probably would have read it on here - I'm pretty sure they were once credible before they became a kind of cockney self-parody act. Maybe it was before they got together.
There's probably a thread's worth of discussion on: Bands Who Were Good Until Offered Huge Money To Become Crap
Chas Hodges has more 'cred' than most artists discussed
on this forum!
He worked for years as a session player - including with Joe Meek - he was in the Outlaws, the Savages, Cliff Bennett And The Rebel Rousers, and of course Heads Hands And Feet with Albert Lee.
Chazandave was originally just a fun sideline, evolving out of jams during down time on sessions.
Chas Hodges is the living embodiment of British rock and roll history (and no, I'm not Dave Peacock)
(Whatever happened to Tony Colton?)
I don't see why it should have been viewed as a mismatch...
Chas and Dave made good music, Zeppelin made good music. Day out's a good'un.
Edit: May I just add that 'coordination and fun from Nicky Horne' sounds vaguely unpleasant.
and ver 'Dave were a darn sight better than
The New Barbs as well!
too right
Have you ever seen a greater mismatch of musos? They really were awful, but I suppose a lot of that is because Stanley and Zigaboo had to come down to Keef's level. I vividly remember the intro to Honky Tonk Women, just that dad-da-da bit, went on for about five minutes.
The New Barbs Knebworth set is available at:

As Usual
The answer is Patrick Crowther. spot on ,sir.Love the Nicky Horne bit.
While not quite as mad...
...as the industrial germans & Showaddywaddy (doubtless some kind of ironic jape), there was the Talking Heads/Dire Straits tour of early 78, slightly less sympatico than the Ramones/Heads one the previous year.
And the tour in 1979 (I think) pairing abstract hippy noodlers Here & Now with the, ahem, slightly more abrasive Fall. It was free as well...
Max Wall
I think Ian Dury had Max Wall for support at one point.
