Charlie Drake - Wizard of progressive rock
Posted by stimpy on 19 June 2009 - 1:17pm.
After years of searching, I've finally found the single that Charlie Drake released in 1974. It was, not surprisingly, a Charisma release
It was written by Peter Gabriel and featured the following:
Robert Fripp - guitar
Phil Collins - drums
Percy Jones - bass
Keith Tippet - piano
It sounds like the great lost Gabriel-era Genesis track :-)

Once owned
5 copies of this single. Written & produced by PG. It was MOJO (?) that did a feature on this track. Sure Sandy Denny is on there somewhere. Great post.
It definitely qualifies as marvellous. Do you have his Superpunk single?
No, but please tell me it sounds like
the great lost Sham 69 track :-)
Thanks for posting that.
If I remember rightly there is a Spike Milligan
single from this period released on Warners Reprise I think
called "Girl on A horse" or something like that. Anybody remember this or can dredge it up .Only heard it once when it was first released.

...go to lunapendium.com . There's some unbelievable PG demos there from '74 onwards including his own take on YNKnow . Collins is on many of them including one called Firebirds which could have been on the Lamb or Selling England . There are demos of stuff that ended up on PG 1 and live stuff too .
Ain't the net great sometimes ?
