Can you confirm this Bob Dylan story?
My father-in-law is a huge Bob Dylan fan and used to live next door to Terry Williams ex Dire Straits drummer before he moved. When Terry realised my in-laws love of Dylan he told him that Bob had visited/stayed at Terry's house. This house is round the corner from Dylan Thomas childhood home in Uplands, Swansea. The gist of the tale was that Williams mentioned the close proximity of his home to Dylan Thomas' when they were working togther (Mid Eighies I would presume) and they travelled down and Bob stayed there. I don't know whether this was Terry just pulling my father-in-law's leg or whether this story was true. It's always had the feeling of a tall tale to me, slightly more believable than Tommy Steele and Elvis though I warrant you. Any Dylan fan's out there got an opinion? Cheers.

Imagine Bob Dylan as house guest. What do you say in the morning when he's grabbed the bathroom.. 'you finished in there yet?-hope it's not another Rolling Thunder Revue'
At breakfast, what could you do if he takes the last spoonful of Golden Shred?
Priceless story. There's a comic sketch brewing here, with Rob Brydon as Terry.
And what does Dylan say as he exits the bathroom?
"I'd leeeeve it a whiiiile BEEfore goin' in there if I were you."
Quite plausible
If he went out for a curry in Crouch End of a Tuesday, which he certainly did, I don't see why he can't have nipped down to Swansea for a thrilling weekend break.
It would have made a great Fix-It: "Dear Jim. Since I changed my name, I've been longing to visit the humble Welsh abode of the great poet himself, but my busy recording and touring schedule has always thwarted my plans. I was wondering if you. . .".
He does like his poets
The reason he played the Isle of Wight Festival was, he said, to visit the home of Tennyson.
Could Be True
Knopfler produced Dylan's 1983 album "Infidels", and I'm guessing Terry Williams was in the Straits then, as Brothers In Arms was released the following year,so it's quite possible
Terry Williams and Bob Dylan
I am Louise Williams, Terry's wife and we are still living in Wales. The truth of this story is that Terry was working in the film Hearts of Fire, featuring Bob Dylan, Ronnie Wood and Ian Drury, and a few others. They were based in Bristol, but did come to Wales because of the scenery and even filmed there. Terry told Bob about the closeness of his house to Dylan Thomas and Bob did come to Swansea to visit, but only picked Terry up from the house in the Uplands.
When they were filming in Bristol, they were in the green room and Bob Dylan was kneeling on the floor with Terry's son Rhys, who was about 2-3 years old, playing a game with his dinasaurs. Terry's first wife Linda was also there. You can check the film Hearts of fire and see the artists for yourselves.
This is a genuine story as dictated by Terry to me.
Hope this puts the record straight for you guys.
Best wishes, Louise and Terry Williams (Dire Straits)
Thanks Louise!
I do like an occasional dose of reality impinging into a world of conjecture.
Bobcats ahoy!
Oops,
guess I'll have to stop slagging off Brothers In Arms. Any more musicians' wives in the Massive?
