Camp Bestival
Posted by djr71 on 23 February 2011 - 1:05pm.
Myself, the missus and the brood (3 kids 8,12,14) are dipping our toes into the festival scene this year with a camping trip to Camp Bestival.
Do any of the massive have any experience of this one or any tips?
The chance to meet Mr Tumble was the final selling point for us. there is a scheme that allows us to buy our tickets in 3 payment blocks which was also a bonus in these cash strapped times.

Ooh, I would be interested too
but with sprogs aged 2 and 5 - less easy I imagine?
Us too
We're taking the kids (8 & 5 by the time of the festival), Zingzillas & Mr Tumble has sold it to the nippers
It's AMAAAAZIIIIIIING
We're now the veterans of two years of Camp Bestival (2009 and 2010), with our little girls (now) aged 2 and 5.
We all absolutely loved it. Complete laugh had by all.
We'd be going this year, but my sister's getting married that weekend...
All I can say is, go go go, enjoy, and I'll see you there next year :-D
This is
getting spooky, Hannah!
I KNOW!
Right. Quick "Are you Me?" quiz...
1) Do you like Marmite?
2) Do you have a collection of chunky necklaces?
3) Are you a book-worm?
If you answered YES to all three, then we're probably the same person.
You'll all love it!
This year will be our third trip, with boys that are now 3 & 2.
Want a top tip? Get a trolley. Can get the kids & all the necessary daily equipment in so you can spend the whole day out & when the kids are tired, ta-da! Instant bed.
There's mounds to do to amuse the family & that's not including the bands. We can't wait!
My only worry
is that I'll spend the whole time watching Justin and the Zingzillas and facepainting and stuff and won't see any actual grown up bands. I could do that in my own house.
You'll be fine!
Yes, there will be Justin-ing and Zingzilla-ing, but there'll also be happy time chilling out on the grass and listening to grown up bands together.
And, as mentioned b Bamthwok, get a trolley for the kids to snooze in at night round the site, and then the evenings are all yours for big people music!
"Chilling out on the grass
and listening to grown up bands together"
You've clearly never met my youngest child.
In response to the above - 2 out of 3. I don't own many chunky necklaces but I do hanker after high heeled shoes and fancy nightwear, while in reality wearing trainers and pyjamas (not together obv).
When he met you Dr Volume told me you reminded him of me. But when I said this the other day he said "No, Hannah is lovely, can bake and is a good mother to her children". So maybe we aren't the same person!
Haha! Cheeky Dr V!
Don't worry, my 2 year old is a full-on turbo-powered lil tearaway. But even she was happy enough to sit still long enough to eat lunch on the grass, while listening to music, and then she bounced up and down and ran in circles while we chilled!
Really, there's so much to do for the kids that we did loads of kiddy stuff in the mornings to burn up tons of energy, and then had more relaxed afternoons. It worked rather well.
Give Dr Volume a hug from me the next time you see him!
I will be seeing him tonight
so will do just that.
I'm going to try and make it down to a London mingle this year (brother and sister to visit in t'smoke as well) so we will see if time grinds to a halt and the universe implodes if we are seen in the same room!
HOORAY!
That would be thoroughly ace. Although possibly not the universe imploding bit.
