stimpy's picture

An Arena documentary, a Paul Morley-helmed review of the 'hit singles' he produced, and a history of Roxy Music.

Lovely.

Wrote his own theme-tune, too.

But did he sing

the feem-toon as well?

He probably did....

...and then processed it thru so many machines it sounds instrumental.

Just noticed

the OP headline - deliberate or Freudian slip?

That'd be telling :-)

Nope... a full (I think) Eno collection here

including the Seven Deadly Finns single and the Winkies album (I know, I know)

what winkies album?

is that the same as the peel sessions, or is there more?

There was a Winkies studio album called, imaginatively enough,

The Winkies. It was released in 1975 and only has a brief guest appearance by Eno, but it does have a splendid Hignosis sleeve.

blimey

I bet you hide that record in in old Scorpions sleeve to avoid embarrassment.

I got this one on i-tunes for 79p

A rare mistake in the punter's favour

You mean "Father" Brian Eno

The shortest but possibly best ever cameo appearance?

See you Jimmy

Loved his work with James, especially the still gorgeous "Laid" album. Hopefully, being a Mancunian, Morley will devote some time to Eno's collaborations with Morley's, er, homies.

A Year With Swollen Appendices

His published diary from 1995 is one of my favourite books which I regularly dip into.

"Starting to think that all the world's major problems can be solved with either oyster sauce or backing vocals".

Some years back, I had tickets to see Eno give a lecture

at Sadler's Wells where, so I was told later, he roamed across cultural relativism, his skills as an amateur perfumier and the body language of David Bowie's wedding (or something similar, it was a long time ago!)

Sadly, I was detained out of town and didn't make it. One of my most-regretted missed gigs - if a gig it was.

As a warm up for Arena - you can catch some thoughts of Chairman Eno here
