Brace yourselves

This band cropped up on the dodgy album covers blog earler in the week. It reminded me of '78 and the 12" version of this song. A huge, mighty noise punctuated at the start and in the middle by the most fantastic jangly guitar. Now, you may know that I love a bit of jangly. But this be my favourite and, when it reappears at 4'37" it is wonderful. I still have the 12" and will teach myself how to upload so that my friends on here can sample the delights of its magnificence. For now, here it is on the OGTW. Good morning.

OGTW?
Is that the Old grey thisle west? As much as I love 'Airport' this is horrible pub rock trying to be relevant .How many teenagers watching that night thought "I've got to tell everybody at school tomorrow about 'The Motors'? Moot point I know, but you brought them up.
I think it's just
Pub rock not trying to be anything else. Nothing horrible about that.
Warning-guitar geek content
Only in the 70s would routing out the front of a 60s Rose Morris Rickenbacker 330 and jamming a humbucker in between the existing pickups (probably a DiMArzio Super Distortion) be considered even remotely acceptable.
For non-guitar heads, the analogy would be getting an original gull-wing Mercedes and, well, fucking it up completely.
Bollocks.
That makes me a guitar geek, too.
My bro and I
were very fond of Aiport, for what it's worth-so was nice to be reminded of them.
The bastard offspring
of Mr Wishbone Ash and Miss Status Quo. Back in the time that was considered a worthwhile mongrel and it still rocks my old bones. All that needs to be said now is...lets boogie!

When "Airport" was riding high in the charts in 1978,
I went to see the Motors at St. Albans Civic Hall.
As the band took the stage, there was a great buzz of anticipation in the air. The first thing Nick Garvey did was to announce:
"Sorry, the keyboards are broken, so we won't be playing 'Airport'".
An ideal start to the gig.
I was rather fond of
Dancing The Night Away - the song that is. Behind a YouTube firewall so no clips from me.
John Peel loved this song
He named it as his favourite single of 1977.
Airport was 'orrible
but this track is a classic, thanks for reminding me nial
I went into
the 6th Form the next morning and told everybody about them bricameron! However, being the only person in the 6th form who liked Emmylou Harris my advice wasn't often sought.I don't think the single came across as well as the live version on OGWT.
"Airport" was followed by "Forget About You" which I think was basically the Grandstand theme tune rehashed.
Gotta love
a guitarist who styles himself Bran Tchaikovsky
Bram
no breakfast material involved here
unless you know better... Cyril
