Boys Keep Stringing

No one does bizarre quite like Bowie - when I first discovered YouTube, this bizzaro Bowie-as-Pelham-Puppet performance of 'Boys Keep Swinging' was the first vid' I searched for, having seen the clip years before via a fuzzed up VHS copy.

However some ol' spoilsport pulled it a week later and I've been trawling the 'Tube at least once a week hoping for the return of the Thin White Duke, only to find it on Yahoo/AOL video (no, I didn't know about it either).

Anyhow - while it's online, watch it, watch it and watch it again. - It is a pinocchio a go-go gem.

Isn't that Klaus Nomi on

Well spotted

It is Klaus - there's 3 bowie performances from this Saturday Night Live appearance and all are worth a watch

Eno's mind games

I seem to remember that for this song Mr Eno had the band all play instruments they weren't familiar with, hence the back to basics sound, fantastic - why don't bands do that any more?

Er. . .

Because it's silly?

Boys keep pumping

Great! Thanks for showing us that, Dave.
So the video for Supergrass's "Pumpin' On The Stereo" is perhaps as much indebted to Bowie as the song:
