Bond 23
Posted by kidpresentable on 12 January 2011 - 1:48pm.
After much delay due to MGM's financial problems, the as yet untitled "Bond 23" is now back in production with Daniel Craig returning as 007.
Is anyone else excited? I thought Casino Royale was fantastic, and Quatum Of Solace was pretty good too. I like that there's some continuation again with a collective organisation, QUANTUM as a new SPECTRE.

One thing will get me excited.
When the producers announce that it'll be fimed in 2-D only and that there will be no CGI used in any of the SFX. And that Matthew Sweet or Turin Brakes are doing the theme-tune. OK that's two things.
In the meantime..
3-D
It hadn't occured to me that it could be 3D, I suppose it's a possibility. I don't really have a problem with that in theory, although I haven't seen any "live-action" 3D stuff, just animated/pixar type films.
Right! Let's start petitioning for who's to do the theme ...
Bjork gets my vote. Something like this ...
In her Homogenic get up she could also play the villain!
Last Shadow Puppets?
Bjork would definately be a good choice.
Other ideas: I'd like to see Alex Turner have a go, My Mistakes Were Made For You by The Last Shadow Puppets is a good example of the right kind of tone.
Or how about giving McCartney another go?
Anything but Chris Cornell after his Casino Royale song. Whilst not exactly awful, it was just very very forgettable.
Gold Always Dies Yesterday
is going to be the title. I'm sure of it.
And dennis Waterman will sing the theme tune.
Sam Mendes is an intresting choice for director
and they've had time to finish the script this time so fingers crossed. (QoS was rushed to film before the writers strike so that's why it's pretty poor.)
Ahh..
Mr Bond, we have been expecting you. I liked Casino Royale, haven't seen the Quantum of Solace, I was put off by the bad reviews and the stupid title. It would be nice to see some humor injected into the new film, plus a return to Bond smoking, drinking and bedding a succession of beautiful women, but then maybe I'm just a bit old fashioned.
Apparently it's to be called
Whisper Of The Sun
So I heard
Bond
I always enjoy Bond and so yes I'm excited. Will be interesting to see what Sam Mendes does with it.
However, more importantly, did you see the other announcement the same day - Gerry Anderson is going to do some more Thunderbirds. Now that is exciting news.
Gerry
..dunno, depends who is behind it
Apparently Peter Jackson's WETA were at one point interested in doing the effects but the problem was getting the rights out of ITV in the first place, which apparently Michael Grade refused to do to Gerry's face. Gerry himself is 'getting on a bit' and after the Captain Scarlet debacle (city-funded and not a success)I'm sure he himself would have trouble raising the finance.
Cut to the chase
The director, theme tune, title, script, CGI, 2/3D - who gives a monkeys?
As long as they've still got Daniel Craig, I'll be glued to the screen, with a big tub of Ben and Jerry's to stop me overheating...
I well remember going to see Casino Royale with Mrs L.
She got in a right tizz. As did, seemingly, every other girly in the place. Much yattering to each other, fanning of faces and leaning on walls for one and all on the way out.
We men were above it all. We all instinctively knew two things to be true.
Thing #1: Daniel Craig was obviously completely gay.
Thing #2: Eva Green was obviously filthy and wanted it. Bad.
We saw no need to discuss these things.
Fantastic news
I was blown away by Casino Royale when I first saw it. Without doubt, the best ever Bond film. And that's including all the Sean ones.
Quantum of Solace was in no way as bad as it was made out to be. It was still very enjoyable with great action sequences and Daniel Craig was still amazing. A cut above most of the Bond series. Try watching it back to back with Casino Royale and it makes sense as a kind of two-part action drama.
So, yes, looking forward to the new one.
I'd agree with you there
I'd agree with you there, when I saw QOS at the cinema I came away having enjoyed it, but at the time felt it lacked some of the slower paced scenes of it's predecessor. I've watched them back-to-back since though, and it really does work as much of the story is already in place.
I'm really hoping for more of the Quantum organisation , although apparently Mr White is unlikely to appear again as the actor didn't like the films.
I love Bond
and the mention of a new film is always exciting but boy has there been some rubbish along the way to number 23
A view to a Kill?
Octopussy?
Tomorrow Never Dies?
The World is not enough (apart from the boat chase down The Thames)?
Diamonds are Forever?
"Skyfall"
It's happening!

Bit of a shame it apparently "doesn't connect with the previous 2" as I was hoping for more of the Spectre-like villains Quantum, but I'm still rather excited.
QoS
Dull as ditchwater. CGI and explosions in search of a plot and a point.
Shame as Casino Royale was very very good.
Agree with MrSib - Mendes is very interesting choice for the Director's chair. Not sure how it will pan out.
"My name is Bond, James Bond...
... Where do I put my tent and when do we overthrow capitalism?"
