Bon Appétit diners, for it's the Word Gastropodcast

Our own Andrew Harrison has been collaborating with celebrated food photographer Patrice de Villiers on Love Music Love Food: The Rock Star Cookbook, a mammoth undertaking published in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. It features the likes of Brett Anderson, Noel Gallagher, Mick Hucknall, Cliff Richard, Tinie Tempah, Paul Weller and many others talking about and being photographed with their favourite food.

To mark the book's publication they came in to the pod to talk about: photographing Roger Daltrey with a load of fish, Noel Gallagher's recipe for tea, Siouxsie's baked beans and the often complicated relationship rock stars have with food. To accompany the podcast Fraser whipped up a Jaffa Cake semifreddo as recommended in the book by West London rapper Example.

If you want to buy this book either for yourself or as a Christmas present - and it is a splendid Christmas present - you can most benefit the charity by buying your copy here.

Have an up

just so that you know that I laughed at your mollusc-related humour, even if no-one else has/will.

I've

always had a mildly unhealthy interest in food photography, without knowing a thing about it. It represents and markets in a manner akin to a Roxy Music cover.
I'm suprised it hasn't been utilised more frequently in sleeve design.

re: popstar's touring eateries

I was on a trip to Madrid with a mate who was researching a book and ended up going to this famous restaurant it was one of those places that trades on its history the food was okay we had suckling pig but the place was a bit moribund a tadthreadbare the odd seedy waiter in cumberbunds.
The highlight of the evening was that we all the seats bore the names of famous former diners mostly unknown to us Spainish names but the odd name like Tony Bennett etc from the wider world. We were amused to find we' d been seated at a very special table I was in Tony Hadley' s chair and my mate was in Gary Kemp's. We liked to think of them in their 80's bolero jackets staring at an hastily ordered paella ( Tony wonders were the ketchup is) being joined by Robert Elms and Sade, Elmsy banging on about bullfighting and button flies, Sade thinking up ways to avoid recording albums....

Sheffielders rejoice!

It’s safe to leave home. Despite tales of rampant scaremongering by Richard Hawley and the like, Henderson’s Relish is available beyond the borders of Rotherham and Barnsley and has been for some time.

For example, I know of at least three places where the esteemed spicy (yet slightly fruity) condiment can be purchased in Perth, Western Australia, including the giant Woolworth’s supermarket food chain (no relation the recently deceased UK high street retailer).

Here’s a picture I took recently. As you can see, Hendo’s is on sale for A$5.79 a bottle down under (that's £3.68 at today’s exchange rate). A bit steep, perhaps, but it has travelled 10,000 miles after all.

And yes, it’s exactly the same stuff you would buy in Sheffield and the labels on the export edition even carry that wonderfully familiar grammatical error.
