Bob Dylan addresses his fans and followers.

Or does he?

Bob Dylan has apparently written this note on his website addressing the recent China controversy. Sadly he doesn't mention The Word but another monthly music mag gets a withering nod.

Who knows if it's real or not but the last paragraph raised a chuckle. Time to start our Bob books!

how bizarre!

That doesn't sound/read like him at all, but it's the official Sony website... Do you think it telling that it's not signed?

Hard to tell

It's strange, isn't it?

And the piece where he contradicts a magazine that has spent much of the last 15 years putting his beak on their cover and promoting his wares seemed a little incongruous too.

Although who'd have ever thought that Bob would do a radio show, write an autobiography, visit the childhood homes of his contemporaries or appear in ladies' sexy knickers commercials.

Essentially, all bets are off with the old boy!

Just noticed you already posted the communique from Bob HQ. Sorry about the double posting.

I've deleted the post

It's generally best to scan the blog if you're posting a news story, because often someone will have beaten you to it.

Sounds like him to me

Given that (a) Bob Dylan's seldom what you expect him to be; and (b) they don't sound like they're written by a different man from the one who wrote the World Gone Wrong liner notes.

he may not have written it but it probably represents his views

My guess is that someone else typed it and then cleared it with him to issue just to set the record straight. The last point might have been inspired by him. But whether he wrote it or not, its an interesting development.

I'm seeing him again at the Irish rock festival in Finsbury Park next month. When I get back home I might start me book "Tangled up on Guinness: Bob Dylan at Finsbury Pk".
