Bleeee! It's the most horrible record sleeve ever.
Posted by Dr Volume on 10 February 2011 - 11:37pm.
I'm a big fan of South Carolina's finest purveyor of hazy, dreamy sunshine pop Toro Y Moi. His 'Causers of This' LP was on heavy rotation last year and according to Kate Mossman's review in this months edition, his latest waxing "Underneath The Pine" is a big hit in Word Towers too.
But there is something quite revolting about the sleeve. I can't bear to look it it. I probably won't buy this on CD as I won't have this yucky thing in my house, I'll download it and immediately swap the cover art for something less blugh.
Arghh..don't look at it. Scroll down!
If anyone knows of a less appealing cover image than this I'd be impressed.

Scorpions' 'Virgin Killer'...
leaps to mind.
Didn't we do this a while back?
And, no. Please. Not a picture of the Kevin Rowland one. Please, no. My retinæ are still blistered.
but but but
It's a really good album.
I'll not post the cover, but it does seem to prevent people from listening to it. He sings the bejasus out those songs!
aye, aye and thrice aye
I've *always* had a soft spot for that album , dumb cover art notwithstanding. I often wonder if a sober-suited re-release would garner it the sales it deserved. The high point for me is the guitar solo on Reflections of my Life.
May I refer the learned Gentlemen...
..to the work of Cannibal Corpse?

I give you...
...Royal Trux - Sweet 16
Vomit
keyboard interface, thanks ;o)
Gentlemen, we have winner!
Gentlemen, we have winner!
Then there's this one
It's all wrong, starting with the name of the band. Toe Fat.
This was Cliff Bennett's attempt at going prog.
It also features two future members of Uriah Heep (no strangers to the world of the shite LP cover themselves - Roger Dean notwithstanding) and a future Jethro Tull drummer.
It's certainly extremely odd...
but I think that's a classic in its own way. It's brilliantly done - very well designed.
it's a
Hipgnosis jobby and they go into great details about the concept behind it in their book Walk Away Rene
I suppose in those far off
pre-Photoshop days it was executed well enough, but I have a phobia about feet, you see. Especially other people's.
So I squirm every time I look at the Toe Fat sleeve (which, as I work in a record store, is more often than might be imagined).
You had me at "Bleeee!"
Great thread. But I now see that Toro Y Moi album cover every time I close my eyes
*scrubs retinas with bleach*
Reminds me of
last night's Justin Lee Collins programme Turning Japanese where he was attempting to eat a piece of squid he had just caught in a fish market tub and it was still wriggling after being chopped up and prepared.
* hides head in giant bag of crisps *
BEANY!
I had a seafood phobia anyway (ridiculous, I know, but there it is) and now I may never sleep again for fear of dreaming about wriggling, decapitated squid.
You're lucky
- my fear will be dreaming about Justin Lee Collins...
Here's the intro
Fear not. It is only 57 seconds long BUT does contain 2 clips of Justin in a bra.
You will be having nightmares tonight...
Incidentally, it leads on to Justin's first ever appearance on TV in 1997 as a "comedian".
Laugh? I nearly did!
Nice to see
he has not lost his talent.
believe me that is so polite from what I c*nting started b*stard f*cking off with, c*unt!
Birth Control
In the 1970's there was a German band called Birth Control who produced an album that featured an eel inside a condom on the front and an egg yolk in a diaphragm on the rear.
Arrrrrrggggghhhhh
I was eating and enjoying paella. Not anymore!!
Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction.
The original cover consists of a collage of many gory autopsy photographs. Lovely!
