Bizarre or unlikely collabarations
Posted by Blue Sky on 25 July 2008 - 3:48am.
I came across this on YouTube and it got me thinking about collabarations and which ones worked and which didn't quite come off.

George Harrison Tribute
I always thought this looked strange. George's luvvies strumming away then Jimi Hendrix, no sorry, Prince arrives at 3m34s. Dhani loves it but I am not sure about the others..
See what you mean
I thought for a moment one of his 'people' was going to rush the stage and help lift him up from his knees.
Prince is.....
a complete toolbag who is very disrespectful of his fans and winds me up no end but, I love him. Hadn't seen that before but I thought it was great, even if he did look like Grandpa Smurf.
Too true...and I cant resist one more post
Brown, Prince & Jackson...sooo bizarre
a coupla things
I forgot how much Dhani looks like Dad, as close a likeness as I have ever seen in any relative.
Prince does upstage them ol farts though doesn't he? They know it, he knows it, Dhani knows it, the audience knows it...
You can just hear them saying
"Show off...No Respect"...nothing like someone to ruffle their smugness....at 4m48s Dhani smiling like a cheshire cat...Mr Petty looks on...at 5m0s Prince looks back as if to say 'shall I play on?....Dhani still beaming....nuff said
Hardly
Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush
My favourite version
D'oh!!!!!
That'll teach me look at the post and not just the heading......
By way of apology, even worse or odder than the Lou Reed as "Dave" version I was looking for.
An old British folk song, Benjamin Zephaniah & Eliza Carthy
Tam Lyn (retold) EC steps in about (3m0s)...even a Spice Girls reference thrown in to the words
Last one.....
to avoid being greedy....Kate & Rowan
This one is just "one louder"....
That is one of the true oddities in pop history
Is it true that Bing had absolutely no idea who Bowie was?
It's a fantastic clip.
Wonder if Bowie was off his bonce?
duplicate....technology eh?
?
1976 wasn't it...?
Given Bowie's other "quirks" at the time, it has got be an even money (at best) chance that the Dame is completely off his trolley here
Dusty Springfield & Alf Garnett
(about 3 mins in)
Sorry
Had to lower the tone. Ozzy & Miss Piggy
Ben Folds & Rufus Wainwright
Doing Careless Whisper. Amazing.
PJ Harvey & Bjork. A highlight from one of the most wretched Brit Awards ever
Nooo......
How can PJ and Bjork be a highlight? Each on their own, fantastic - love them both to bits, but together singing (nay whining) Satisfaction. I'm sorry, but this the emperor's new clothes. I'm sure there were legions of A&R and PR people having wet dreams about this collaboration, but to me it just seems like they're taking the piss and seeing how long it would be before someone catches on.
John McEnroe & Pat Cash
Play Led Zeppelin. With Roger Daltrey.
No You Tube confirmation
....but I remember seeing Fairport Convention at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon, Nov or Dec 75. Thier special guest for the encores was Brian Goldbelt Maxine and they together did "6 days on the road", which was top biscuit to a Burrito lover such as I was (and am).It seems he had put out a C&W LP and the sessioneers were none other than the Fairports.
Here he is in his other role, grapple fans.....
