Heaven eleven

Paddy WHO is giving you your mixtapes? 11 is best title EVER!!

0
LastRoseofSummer | 8 July 2011 - 12:42am

My mate Tony

in North Carolina, who posted here infrequently as Widnesian, used to send me a mixtape as a radio programme. It was called Radio Cheezwizz. I loved it. Still listen to it loads.
He'd introduce songs and tell me why he liked them, give me some details and then play them. It was like a personal Peel.
He introduced me to so much great, left field American independent music like East River Pipe, Damian Jurado, Idaho, Caitlin Carey etc. Just loads of odd stuff.
He'd send badges and gig tickets and odd ephemera. It was an adventure in itself.
I love Fred Cornog- he's East River Pipe. He's a recovering alcoholic and works completely analogue - records on an eight track with old instruments. As a job he is the tile man in Home Depot, somewhere in New Jersey.
I love everything he has done. Here's another one.

That's really very good!

Have you ever heard of the Bats? The above reminded me a bit of a slower version of this:

0
Merv | 8 July 2011 - 6:13am

Although...

...listening to it again, there no longer seems to be much of a similarity!

Oh well, The Bats one is still a good song!

0
Merv | 8 July 2011 - 6:49am

Thanks a million

That's great. I got a tweet off FM Cornog last night, I am delighted.
