Birthday Supergroup
OK, as a follow on from the Birthday No.1 posts, how about Birthday Supergroups. Using
http://www.everyhit.com/dates/thisdate.php
I find that also sharing my birth date (12th May) are a number of musicians and songwriters, from which I can assemble this supergroup;
Songs - Burt Bacharach
Vocals - Ian Dury
Keyboards/vocals - Steve Winwood
Guitar - Billy Duffy
Oh, and Keith Moon on drums, McCartney on bass, just because I can (not because they were born on that date!)

Oh no!
It appears that a band formed from stars who share my birthday would be a vocal quartet, composed of Meat Loaf, Shaun Cassidy, Mark Calderon (ex-Color Me Badd) and Avril Lavigne.
Sounds...
rockin'
Errr...
Vocals - Mica Paris
Backing Vocals - Lauren Laverne
Multi-Instrumentalist - Saddam Hussein
Bass player and drummer needed...
I've got a vocal group consisting: Cass Elliot, Freda Payne, Gloria Jones and Jarvis Cocker. Two guitarists: Lol Creme and Nile Rodgers and Brian Epstein for a manager.
Not mentioned on the site but I can also add to the vocalists with Bill Medley. I think that lot ought to be able to come up with something between them.
Anyone got the Peel session of this lot?
Liam Gallagher, vocals
Don Felder, guitar
Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, drums
Leonard Cohen & Faith Hill, backing vocals
Sorry, Liam Gallagher on
Sorry, Liam Gallagher on lead vocals and Leonard Cohen on backing?! Can Liam not just be given a star-shaped tambourine and told to stand in the corner or something?
It would certainly be interesting...
Sharing lead vocals and guitar: Joe Strummer and Kenny Rogers
Keyboards: Liam Howlett
Plus I've got some bloke from The Mavericks and one of Sister Sledge. Looks like I'm on bass/drums then
Born a day too soon
Well, I've got a rhythm section I've never heard of:
Dennis Diken (The Smithereens) Drums
David Stenson (Grass Roots) Bass
plus Woody from the Bay City Rollers on guitar!
But then it gets better
Lead Guitar and vocals: George Harrison
Co-vocals (on the bluesier numbers): Elkie Brooks
Co-vocals (on the country songs): Faron Young
And for that extra class, and the high notes, Enrico Caruso.
Still if I'd been born a day later I could have had the phenominal combination of Johnny Cash and Fats Domino, Sandie Shaw and Erykah Badu on backing vocals, with the drummer from Tight Fit, the bassist from the Boo Radleys and the guitarist from Poco. Now that would be a band worth hearing! (and we could tell Michael Bolton he didn't make the cut!!)
A *lot* of talent: 30 December
Lead Guitar/Backing Vox: Mike Nesmith
Rhythm Guitar:Bo Diddley
Vox & maracas: Davy Jones (yes, two Monkees!)
Vocals:Del Shannon, Tracey Ullman
Bass, Keyboards,Guitars, Backing Vox, Producer: Jeff Lynne
Vocals/Choreography: Russ Tamblyn
Drums: er, me, Cozy Powell having the temerity to be born on the 29th.
Lyrics: Rudyard Kipling & Patti Smith
With Tiger Woods' cash behind us, I'm sure there's the making of a concept album about two British light entertainers who went to the States twenty years apart and becoming, yes, folks, STARS, all set to a dum-tim-dum-dum, dum-dum beat.
I left out Jay Kay from Jamiroquai for reasons of taste
A job for Jay Kay
Apparently he's not a bad driver so he could drive the tour bus
Everyone seems to at least have one living artist. The only two I have were Frank Zappa and Carl Wilson who both inconsiderately died on me.
Mind you I share it with Joe Stalin and Kurt Waldheim so if we're looking for a Word World domination I'm your man!!!
I've got...
Saddam Hussein. Many years ago I tried contacting the Iraqi Embassy to see if he'd like to have a shared birthday party with me. Scoff some jelly and ice cream, play pass the parcel... the usual stuff. But alas he was unavailable for comment.
A note of jealosy
Just found the GLW has the following house band for her party
George Thorogood
Andy Summers
John Densmore
Donna Summer
Life's just not fair
GLW
I've been trying not to, but I can't hold out any longer.
I know I'm the only one on the site who doesn't know, and I hang my head in shame.
But go on - put me out of my misery.
What's it stand for?
There. I've done it now. Laugh all you want.
Good Lady Wife
though I have no idea where it started, I'm just glad to find I'm not the only one using it - have done so for years.
Next up - ironically refering to the boss as OBL or Our Beloved Leader. Gives work a nice North Korean feel ;)
Thank you
I can now die happy.
Oh, the harmonies...
Judy Collins and Rita Coolidge on vocals, ably supported by Ray Parker Jr.
Guitar played by Bernard Butler, supported by Johnny Colt from the Black Crowes on Bass.
No drummer necessary - I'm thinking tasteful Laurel Canyonesque harmonies and acoustics here. Johnny might have a problem with this though.
Oh, and on Saxophone, him out of Haircut One Hundred who I am afraid was born on the same day as me.
I'll have...
Mike Oldfield - guitars and misc instruments
Brian Eno - synths and "treatments"
Titch (of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & ...) - whatever guitars Mike Oldfield isn't playing
Andrew Eldritch (from the Sisters of Mercy) - vocals
Mine.............
A couple are sadly deceased - my March 2nd band is -
Karen Carpenter - Drums and vocals
Lou Reed- Rythym Guitar
Rory Gallagher - Lead Guitar
Mark Evans (ex AC/DC) - Bass Guitar
Chris Martin - Piano
Jon Bon Jovi - Haircut.
Good grief...
can you imagine Lou Reed and Jon Bon Jovi in the same band?! Heaven help us! "Wanted Dead Or Alive (Metal Machine Music Remix)", "I'm Waiting For The Stylist", "Walk On The Tame Side"...
