Best & Worst - Royals
Posted by Rigid Digit on 11 April 2011 - 7:01pm.
New issue has plonked on the doormat (well in the postbox outside to prevent mental dog from eating it).
First flick through I spied 'Best & Worst Royals'
I locate the page and begin to check out the suggestions.
Missing from The Worst - no mention of Paul Brayson. One of the worst players in recent years to wear the shirt of Reading FC. And I really expected to see Terry Bullivant on the list of "not very good"
Missing from The Best - Robin Friday, Steve Death, Kerry Dixon, Trevor Senior and Shaka Hislop. Not even Martin Hicks made the list.
Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I think I might add
Roger Joslyn to the list of the worst. Among the best? Nicky Forster. The wrong end of the stick is so much more interesting, well to some of us perhaps.
Among the best?
Really? That's what we got told when he signed for Ipswich.
can only guess
that he lacked motivation? Couldn't possibly comment on why that might be the case at Ipswich but he performed very well in Berkshire.
Nice one...
Best Players: Gilkesy, Murts, Parkie, Curo, Quinny, Doyler and Kits
Worst Players: Simon Shepherd, Keith Scott, Robert Fleck, Paul Brooker
Best Manager: Sir Stevie Coppell
Best Hairpiece: Bobby Mihailov
Come on !
best free kick specialist (and slowest full back) - Hartey.
Slow...
yes, but he's becoming a legend. Might be good if we could get special dispensation to wheel him on for free kicks and penalties though.
He is quality
slow, but quality.

Worst fight result against Lee Martin's dad - Gary Peters
Best Goal Scored at Madejski Stadium
Alex Rae, 14th May 2003.
Where is Bert Royal?
Bolton's finest professional wrestler, who appeared on the first televised wrestling show in 1955.
Pictured below with brother Vic Faulkner (far left) and a bunch of passing musicians.
Tag team, grappling fans
did they make up the tag team The Royals?
They were, if I remember always the good guys against Mick McManus and partner.
Correct me if I'm wrong
But the worst royal (Edward VIII) bit goes on about the King's Speech and Colin Firth, which surely should have been applied to the George VI bit...
Edward VIII
As I understand it though, if he hadn't abdicated we wouldn't have got George VI and hence...
By the way, I'm not usually one to proselytize on The Word's behalf, but there is some seriously good writing in this month's issue, the CD is by turns intriguing and challenging (i.e. everything I require from a covermount) and even some of the adverts in this issue were useful. Sterling work, team.
ps The best royal is clearly the Jersey Royal, unless you're roasting or mashing, in which case it's the King Edward.
You're a quick reader
I only got it the day before yesterday and I've barely touched it yet.
