Beano Album?

Austin's picture

I was a little disappointed to find that this referred to an old Eric Clapton record, where he's reading (without laughing, I note) The Beano on the cover.

I was hoping that the comic had embarked on a new direction. But what would it be called? The Beano Album seems to be taken...

Bash Street Fighting Years?
Brimful of Gnasher?

Come on, this is important.

How about an album of Bowie covers?

Roger the Lodger.

For the older listener

Keyhole Kate Bush

Desperate Steely Dan featuring Walter Becker the Softie

Cathy Dennis The Menace

The Undertones reform with Plug from the Bash Street Kids on vocals. Critics unanimously declare new singer "more handsome" than the old one.

though to be pedantic

Keyhole Kate and Desperate Dan were in the Dandy.

For even older readers 'John Wayne is Big Eggo' (sorry it's early, brain not fully functioning)

Nice work!

The first Beano cover star 1938 - 1948, pre-dating even Biffo the Bear.

Since you're being so strict about allowing characters from other D.C. Thompson comics, I won’t mention Topper Headon (who was, in fact, named after the Topper character Mickey The Monkey because of his big ears).

Just to add that Biffo the Bear

is name-checked in the song 'Big Shot' by the Bonzos and Lord Snooty and his pals tapdanced in the afore-mentioned band's 'Intro and the Outro'

More Bonzos

He pops up again in My Pink Half Of The Drainpipe in the line:

...through the mouthpiece of Lord Snooty's giant, poisoned, electric head... so thereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Don't know if he'd actually perform a track

but I bet most of the acts will be 'good mates' with Billy Whizz.
