For God's sake don't show this to Brian Wilson. The man is still fragile:

Mash-up madness
It's quite eerie isn't it? I don't know why.
Mash-ups can be a fleeting pleasure, but I like the Grandstand / Supremes one too:
That’s magnificent
Works really well. Thanks for posting. The full length Grandstand theme has a mad guitar solo in it. Very strange to listen to because this very familiar tune suddenly takes a weird little detour. They don’t use that section here though. I expect it’s on You Tube somewhere.
Grandstand, Sprotsnight, World of Sport etc.
You're right, and lots of the great TV (especially sport) themes have unexpected jazzy/rocky/noodly bits in their full length versions. This album covers all the greats: http://tinyurl.com/3lcdh6
Keith "Grandstand" Mansfield is a much-sampled genius; his "Funky Fanfare" is wonderful.
“Library music”
as it’s known has been quite popular in Mod circles for a few years now. The people who played in and composed for those sort of “light orchestras” that made TV themes/ stock incidental music for films, TV shows etc. were mostly jazz musicians. When commissioned to come up with - sometimes by the yard - “contemporary” music, the styles they were instinctively drawn to were people like Norman Whitfield, Barry White and Isaac Hayes. Which is why primetime ITV was a lot funkier than the Bickershaw festival.
Fudge's Up
Thanks Andrew, quite priceless, 'finger of fudge...' having been seared into my then young brain in, I'm guessing, '73. They'd never be allowed to say 'brand name' and 'goodness' in the same sentence these days mind...
I’m sure Brian Wilson would love it
He’s got a sense of humour and likes chocolate.
But he wouldn’t be happy with the synchronisation of the Boys’ backing vocals on Barry’s verses on this one:
