Be Good To Yourself and salute Micky Jones.

This man, Micky Jones, is one of my all time musical heroes:
When he died, I was very sad, but there is one last great chance to celebrate his musical achievements mob-handed:
I have my ticket. The B&B has been booked. I can't wait.
If you can't make the gig, at least get the mash-up and contribute that way:
Any Swansea Massive members going to be Crinting on the night of the 18th?
Fancy a natter and a pint of dark?
Break out the bananas!

You're so right
Vulpes. As I get older the passing of my heroes happens more and more but Micky going really hit me hard. So many nights watching him almost invent lyrical guitar playing. His beautiful voice and a band of mad, lunatic wandering minstrels that defined my gig-going in the early 70's. For those of you wondering what Vulpes is going on about (especially the 'Bananas' reference) then get a load of this. The solo at 5'00 defines Micky's playing. I can't be there on the 18th but I shall sup a pint in his honour.
God bless you, Micky and thank you for so many hours of pleasure.
Indeed, a guitar hero
Don't forget there's tribute gig tonight (Sep 3rd) too, same venue Pontardawe Arts Centre.
This is one of the few times I wish I was back in my home town.
Now everyone, after 3 ...
I like to eat bananas 'cos they got no bones
I like marijuana 'cos it get's me stoned
Marvellous & silly, with truly great guitar playing. What more can you want?!?
Distance forbids it, Sir...
..but I will be there in spirit.
One of my top 3 British guitar players (Ollie Halsall and Paul Kossoff being the other two)
Raise one for me.
One of the unsung greats
Sadly I cannot make it there for the 18th, but I would like to add my appreciation and love of the great man's guitar playing. I was really sad the day I heard the news of his passing, but so few people I mentioned it to had any idea who he was. There are so many brilliant examples of his lyrical inventive melodic playing, I will have to spin a few and drink a beer to his memory.
I'm sure you will have read Deke's Man biography, it is one of the great rock and roll memoirs, bringing back a time that cannot be recaptured. I would place it alongside Ian Hunter's "Diary..." so if you missed it, take a chance, there will never be another band quite like Man.
I saw Man
play a few months back in Wrexham and in all there must of been twenty people there and that included myself, four friends and the barman. Such a shame really as they were great.
I was at the 3rd Sept
I was at the 3rd Sept memorial gig, and a fantastic night was had by everyone. great music, great people. Storming performance from Sassafras, but Son of Man stole the show. Only a few numbers, but proved by the grin on Edgar Broughton's face as he sung with the band.
I can't be there on the 18th although I have a ticket. Get there. You won't be disappointed, and you'll be supporting a great Man inMicky Jones and the charities. Well done to George, Micky's son.
Road trip
I am thinking about driving down from Hertfordshire. Anyone this end fancy a road trip(and a pint with Vulpsy?).
