Bands releasing multitracks online for remixing...

newpathstohelicon's picture

For the last few days i've been messing about remixing various bands who've released the multitrack wav files of their songs online. there's been a few bands to do this recently such as Nine inch Nails, Phoenix and Peter Gabriel. the question is do any of you know of any other bands who have done this. So far i've managed to find the following sites but i'm after any others i can get hold of.

Nine inch nails (plus a few songs from janes addiction, saul williams and a couple of others) - http://remix.nin.com/

Real World records (Peter gabriel, Imagined village, Afro Celt Soundsystem etc) - http://www.realworldremixed.com/

Phoenix - http://www.wearephoenix.com/completemultitrack/

hope some of you can have some fun with these, and also, if anyone knows or hears of any others then please let me know.

Bowie, Space Oddity.

For some reason I have the WAV files for Space Oddity and the individual tracks. God knows where I got those from. But, I put them into GarageBand and later Logic and had a mess around with them, turned the Mellotron uo, atc.

Didn't sound any better, mind. But then I'm not a pro.

Could anyone please explain...

...to a simpleton how he might download tracks from that site onto his iPod?

Assuming they are all on YouTube... You could...

Click to 'Watch On YouTube'

That would take you to the YouTube page. From there you might need a bit of software, or a website to Download / Convert tracks from YouTube.
There are probably several websites which offer this service for free, and you'll end up with an MP3 of the track. (But I wouldn't know - I've never done it.)

(This is, of course, highly illegal, and I'm not suggesting you ever do it, ever, ever...)

Thanks for that

I've just downloaded the track for 'I Can't Help Myself'. Now all I have to do is learn how to sing like Levi Stubbs.
