ATM - Stripping a soundtrack out from the DVD to iTunes
Posted by Six Dog on 21 October 2011 - 11:27am.
Trying to just rip the music from U2's "U2 Go Home" Slane Castle DVD on to iTunes. I used to be able to do this with a MiniDisc recorder by plugging the optical out cable into the back of the old VHS.
Any idea on how to do this digitally? I have Handbrake but really don't want or need the video aspect of the files.
Any advice much appreciated. Ta!

If you use a MAC
Audio Hijack is good. I use it to record Radio 4 progs I like. But it can record from any audio source and store in up to CD quality. You have to pay for this software (about £25). I have also used Audacity which is free and available for all PCs and MAC. It too records from any source and outputs to just about any format. It is slightly more techie than Audio Hijack, but very powerful: you can do all sorts of processing with it.
Audio Hijack Pro
Audio Hijack is available from Rogue Amoeba - it's now in the 'Pro' format - I've used it to record audio from iPlayer and DVDs on an iMac, always with really good results.
U2?
Sorry mate, you've got the wrong blog for that...

DVD Audio Extractor
theres a piece of software called DVD Audio Extractor (available on both Windows and Mac) that should do the trick. Its paid software but available as a full featured trial for 30 days.
I used it to extract the high definition audio from the DSOM recent box set. See here for detailed instructions......
