ATM - Lisbon
Posted by Norwegian Blue on 9 September 2011 - 6:01pm.
We're 10 guys in our 40s who are going to Lisbon for 4 days in April. Any must-sees, must-dos or must-eats?

Looks like my attempts
to purge the board of 'ATM' have been unsuccessful.
Also, it's deviant and unhygenic.
There is a bar in Lisbon
All I think it sells is spit-roasted chicken, chips and rose wine. Which I consumed by the plate/bucketload.
Last time i was there I managed to completely anaesthetise my entire body. Sadly I can remember neither the name nor the location.
If I can find out the name I will post it up.
Edit: According to Mrs W, it's called 'Bonjardim' and does quite literally just sell chicken, frites and rose wine. It's a favourite of the cruise ship crew who descend en masse when the ships are in port.
And here it is: http://www.golisbon.com/food/restaurants/Bonjardim.html
That sounds like
the kind of place where the Massive could have a decent night out
Must drink?
There's a place on top of the hill called Solar do Vinho do Porto. It's in an 18th century palace and has around 300 different ports.
Not just a place to take the LSW. Really worth a look.
Custard tarts
On the way to the beach at Cascais near the Belenenses football ground and a big monastery/museum/art gallery is the home of the custard tart. Get off the train at Belem. They are lush *salivates at the memory*

And you can't go wrong with a bottle of red Alentejo.
Memories
i worked just round the corner from that in summer 95.
Bad experience
Took a guided taxi tour round the streets of Lisbon on the day that I had the worst gastro upset of my life. I needed the toilet about a dozen times in an hour - not easy to find toilets in the Fado district. The taxi driver thought it was hilarious though.
The local Super Bock beer is memorable though. If you have time the fishing village of Cascais is lovely.
You can't really go wrong
in the old quarter of Lisbon. There's an old tram that goes right through the area, and there are loads of bars and cafes to choose from. Also agree with the recomendations for the Belem custard tarts and for Cascais.
this has some suggestions
