ATM ITunes Match question

daff's picture

Okay so all my 17000+ songs are now in the Cloud and can easily be accessed but something I don't understand........when I listen to a song that I originally ripped from my own cd am I listening to that very same version or am I listening to it from another source?

Depends.

If those CDs also exist in the iTunes database, then you're listening to a 320k digital version, not your ripped version.

If Match couldn't match any of those CDs, it will have uploaded your ripped version.

Depends upon how you are listening

I believe that if you are listening via the computer that you ripped it to that houses your iTunes library (pre Imatch) then you are listening to your original version. (Unless you have taken steps to delete your originals and download higher quality matched versions. This is such a parlava that you would know if you've done it!)

If you are listening via an iPhone or iTouch or similar then you have the option of downloading from the cloud (or even streamin in the case of apple TV). In this case you are listening to the "matched" version.

(I think!)
