ATM IPod help

Roy Levy's picture

I have an IPod formatted for my old EMac. I've now lost my ITunes library from the EMac (mostly burned CD's) and have switched to a new PC. Can anyone tell me if there's a way of keeping the contents of my IPod, but reformatting it so that I can add music/podcasts etc via the new PC ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Touchcopy

There's a programme called Touchcopy which will transfer the contents of your ipod onto your new computer.

I'm sure there's plenty of other software that will do the same thing but that's the only one I have experience with. It worked really well.

Thank you

for that. Are you sure Touchcopy will get me over the Mac to PC problem ? It's not entirely clear from a quick look over their website.

If you're unsure

just download the free trial version and see if it works.

You can do it without...

... additional software, I did it once - it was quite traumatic and it involved accessing hidden files - and all the music was scrambled (all over the place) - but it was worth it in the end - because I didn't lose anything.

Yep

You can format your ipod so the computer recognises it as an external hard drive, you then just drag and drop the files from one to the other, it's a bit of a messy way of doing it though.

I think

Media Monkey allows you to see your iPod as a hard drive.
