ATM- I would like to hear some new cover versions please!

ganglesprocket's picture

I was arseing about on You Tube and found what I can only describe as my new favorite thing in the world ever. It's Rammstein covering Kraftwerk's The Model and it's fantastic.

So people of the massive, kindly point me towards some cracking covers which I'm unfamiliar with please! The odder the better.

Sandie Shaw

I'm at work so can't embed the vid but do a youtube for Sandie doing Sympathy For The Devil. It's one of my favourite cover versions ever, but I'm not sure it's for the right reasons.

Foo Fighters

You could fill a whole thread with excellent covers by the Foo Fighters. I'm not sure how obscure their cover of Band On The Run is, but here it is anyways.

Frank Sinatra - Both Sides Now

I've never liked Joni Mitchell's voice, which sounds like someone from the WI singing Jerusalem. Frank's version of her song is better.

Mike Flowers Pops -Velvet Underground Medley

It's not new...

...but I still love the Ben Folds cover of "Bitches Ain't Shit" by Dr. Dre. He somehow manages to make it sad. I don't know how.

NSFW audio, obviously.

also on the same tip, Nina Gordon covers Straight Out of Compton, also plenty NSFW

Do splendid versions of Me & Julio down by the school yard and Gary Numan's Cars. Not sure if they are on Youtube as I'm not able to access that here. Look forward to listening to these suggestions when I get the chance later.

Any Trouble

Clive Gregson is a good writer/singer/guitarist but I think his best skill is as an interpretor. Listen to this great arrangement.

Jorrox | 12 January 2012 - 4:54pm

But....

1
Retropath2 | 12 January 2012 - 5:47pm

Great version

Shawn Colvin got the song from Clive Gregson when she did a spell with him in Richard Thompson's band. Shawn then passed it to Alison Krauss.

0
Jorrox | 14 January 2012 - 1:57pm

Here is one that I like

I hope you like it too. It is a cover of Lykke Li "I Follow Rivers" by Triggerfinger, the self-styled loudest band in Antwerp, but it is not loud at all.

The Belgian radio station has had it taken it down from Youtube, you have to find it elsewhere. And they wonder why nobody likes them. It is still out there though.
