Them 'Rolling Beatles'' are

Them 'Rolling Beatles'' are tops.

Good one

You're very entertaining on camera, Rob. They should get you on Sky News or something.

Lucas Hare | 12 March 2008 - 9:24pm

Word conference room acoustics

Phil Spector would have had a field day in there.

Still, at least Mr F has mastered the art of talking into the microphone - a concept that is still proving to be something of a challenge to some of his eminent colleagues.

Archie Valparaiso | 13 March 2008 - 9:35am

We like to keep it "lo fi" and "Toe Rag Studios".

Trans.: We can't afford decent mikes.

Andrew Harrison | 13 March 2008 - 12:53pm

And our office is..

...a metal box conveniently situated alongside the noisiest road in Western Europe.

David Hepworth | 13 March 2008 - 9:32pm

The Word

Always a pleasant surprise to receive the new issue through the post. Interesting Elvis interview and Rob's piece on the pop tour was too. Will divulge the CD shortly.

David Wright | 13 March 2008 - 9:36am

Fame! At last!

I've secretly been hit by a twinge of envy when members of this parish manage to get their posts printed in the letters page or, better yet, comments they've made mentioned in the podcast. Well, jealous I shall be no more...

Turning to Andrew Collins' Whatever! on page 24, and towards the end of the first column, there it is, my name is lights. "A student called Joe..." That's me that is!

For the record, I didn't make a comment that sounded like it came from one of Armstrong and Miller's spitfire pilots...

Joe R | 13 March 2008 - 5:10pm

I have decided that...

...the Lovecraftian sentence that opens Rob Fitzpatrick's coverage of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards will be my epitaph.

The enimatic inscription on my tombstone will read:

"In my deepest, darkest nightmares, I am Steve Harley."

LLoyd Cole

I Love Rob Fitzpatrick's piece and espicially Lloyd's comment "a festival without Primal Scream - fantistic!".

Absolutely agree with him 100%. Screamadelica to cartoon punks and Counterfeit Stones. The indie Quo. And right old pains in the arse to boot.

Love you Lloyd.

Springer Bell | 16 March 2008 - 9:57pm

Mmmm...

saw the guided tour and thought 'looks a bit dull this month'. So it's the first Word I've passed on. ( Sorry ).

eddie g | 16 March 2008 - 7:53pm

Indeed

Was quite a dull issue. I've also had the feeling lately that they need to expand there payroll, and enlist more contributor's. OR bring Caitlin Moran back for another whirl.

Liam Hatchet | 16 March 2008 - 8:36pm

I thought is was OK

Alright there was a bit of John Niven overkill between article, review and podcast, and an article on ticket pricing that kind of went nowhere but in fairness it kept me entertained over the weekend and I thought the Elvis Costello interview was pretty good.

Springer Bell | 19 March 2008 - 3:14pm

Running out of ideas?

At least with regards to the 20 best/worst?

Number one singles is much too generic - you could have probably listed 20 of last years number ones under the worst but am glad you at least tried to be more inventive.

Do you need the blog forum to come up with some alternatives?

Rest of the magazine still great

Martin Langkjaer | 25 March 2008 - 6:26pm

Thought the Costello interview was interesting,

but "Magnificent"??? . My Mom always said "self praise is no praise".
