Pattison looks the business though...

... the bowlers did the damage yesterday, which for me is the most encouraging sign. Great work from Punter and Pup - hope Mr. Cricket can get a big score too before they declare tomorrow morning.

They won't be declaring any time soon

with three days to go the plan should be bat and bat and bat. I'd set them 600 just to make Australia bat again, may as well make the runs now as later.

Also I'm sure Clarke is eyeing off Brian Lara's record score. He should be able to do it by tea. He will never get a chance like this again, with plenty of time, an exhausted attack and lots of wickets in hand. The unfortunately nicknamed "Pup" will finally be able to stamp his authority on the captaincy job just in time for the 100th ever test at his own home ground. As far as he is concerned the planets have aligned, he will keep going, I know I would.

Pattinson and Cummins should forge the most exciting opening attack Australia has had since Lillee and Thomson. Pattinson is quick and accurate but Cummins is scary quick. The batting stocks are woefully thin though, it'll be a while before we can beat England.
