Armstrong & Miller

Anyone watch the first episode of the new series? Very good, I thought. Particularly liked the man who forgets to put out the bins, and their view of farmers' markets seems to chime with mine:

The "mustard cords" line chimed for me..
Particularly because I go to the Southsea Farmers' Market and enjoy watching the stereotypes.
I do not, I hasted to add, own a pair of mustard cords.
Aha!
It was the appearance of Morten Harket that got me in stitches...
It had me in tears
...he has a bald spot.
Huh
Didn't know there was a new series! I'm a fan. I'm off to the Toppy now to set the timer.
Likewise thanks, I hadn't noticed
for iPlayer/ipdl etc people here's a handy link

Just recognised
Dan Skinner, the guy who plays Angelos Epithemiou in Shooting Stars.
He's the one in the green scarf!
That's Morrissey
in the rain isn't it?
Jessica Ransom
is also there
was one half of Girl And Dean that did a superb show at the Edinburgh fringe a couple of years ago
Laugh out loud funny.
...and I was on my own. Also, I'm always pleased to see the nice lady who played the mum in the "I'm not actually a bear" sketch, also one of the high points in terms of deadpan delivery. Someone should show this programme to Harry Enfield.
Absolutely brilliant
I was on my own this weekend too, and even without someone to share it with, I laughed out loud at almost every sketch. Probably a higher hit-rate than any other comedy I've seen on TV in recent years.
The farmers' market was so beautifully written and observed. In fact, my Facebook status for the weekend was "...is no more a farmer than Morten Harket".
Yeah, I did wonder about that...
...having seen the sketch above, I now understand!
Having not seen any A&M at all before, I'm now feeling a bit left out and sorry. Loved the Farmer's Market sketch (guilty as charged), now recording the rest of the series.
Have some Old to keep you going
Brilliant!
thank you. great stuff.
Very funny
and well observed.
A difficult combination to pull off.
As skirky says Harry Enfield could so with taking note. There are bits of his latest latest show that are funny but it seems increasingly detached from any kind of "real" context and more based on being self-referential. I've also found the constant portrayal of women in sketches in various negative lights - stupid, calculating and avaricious are common character traits - has got so repetitive that I've reached the point where I actually wonder if the misogyny they're parodying is actually more their own view than the parody itself.
Repeat
It's not repeated is it? I had a look around and it seems not to be, other than on iPlayer, but watching TV on the PC in the office is no fun.
I can't get iPlayer working on my laptop through the HDMI cable and TV screen. There is a can't be arsed dimension to it but I spent an hour or so on it and got picture but no sound and at that point I gave up.
As a fair amount of my TV now tipoffs after t'fact from Massive
I have an earlier version of this viewer:
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/index.asp?cat=30
and use ipdl ( http://po-ru.com/projects/iplayer-downloader/, another Massive tip) to grab MP4s to disk for viewing at leisure (also renders them viewable on iPod). Not perfect solution as not highest quality-but surprisingly good.
May be worth a look.
double post
.
Anyone remember Nude Practice from their original series?
Like All Creatures Great And Small, but in the rik. With lots of stratiegically placed props.
But not always..
(This isn't a YouTube link so I don't know if the vid will embed. Caution if it doesn't - contains graphic footage of Ben Miller's dangly bits. And some tits and a bit of muff as well.)

Quite coincidentally,
I have always regretted that only series 4 of the Channel 4 A&M series was released on video ...
Hmmmmmmm
Was a couple of laughs but it's the same old "character" and "catch phrase"comedy we've been served up since Dick Emery.......very poor....oops!
