Are You Ready Steve? Uh Huh.
Posted by Dick Grant on 9 November 2009 - 1:03pm.
One thing which has me grinning like a charlie when I hear it is the band introduction at the start of a song. The first I was aware of was of course Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet which is where the title of this post originates. I then discovered to my delight that Matt Johnson does it with heavy irony on Armageddon Days - "Are you ready Jesus, Buddha" etc.
It Comes in at around 25 seconds.
Finally the start of Bootylicious By Destiny's Child .
Does anyone have any more examples?
By way am I the only 48 year old male who loves to sing "I don't think you're ready fo' this jelly"
Yes?
Oh dear.

This Is Not A Rebel Song
“Eth’s got a mouthful o’ cookies”
“Left for dead!”

I can't recognise this one. Where is it from ellaguru?
Isn't it Ryan Adams?

"Is she really going out with him?"
Thump those tubs Rat!
Happy Christmas John
Happy Christmas Yoko
PEDANT ALERT!
I thought that's what they were saying for years but it's actually "Happy Christmas Kyoko, Happy Christmas Julian" i.e. their two kids. Ahhhhhhh
Really?!
I had no idea. Lyrics are always revealing themselves to me, but that one could have remained unknown to me forever.
I only just found out Chrissie Hynde was 'gonna use my sidestep', rather than senses.
one, two, three, four...
one, two.
"Let me tell you how it will be..."
It's one o'clock and time for lunch...
When the sun beats down and I lie on the bench I can always hear them talk...
"There's always been ethel"
Sorry to be a bit predictable
What did God give us Neil?
God gave us life, Nigel.
Sure did...
One two three four, John the Baptist knows the score...
"In ancient times
Hundreds of years before the dawn of history
Lived a strange race of people
The Druids
No one knows who they were... or what they were doing
But their legacy remains
Hewn into the living rock
Of Stonehenge"
Domestic Dame
I know when to go out and I know when to stay in. Get things done.
'Bad Neighbourhood' by Ronnie and The Delinquents...
Bloody genius.

Run, run away ...
"Up until one century ago there lived,
in the Zi Duang provence of eastern China ...
A glass-like spider ..."
