Includes Eilert Pilarm !
Eilert Pilarm - Sweden's foremost Elvis impersonator. I have an mp3 of John Peel sitting in for Mark Radcliffe with guests Stuart Maconie, Richard Herring & Stuart Lee. The recording is just the studio banter apart from the work of Mr. Pilarm who the original compiler decided could not be edited out.
It's a pure Peel moment: still somewhat indignant as Stuart Maconie has just described The Fall as "an obscure band" he states "In two minutes time you're lives will be different lives" and Blue Suede Shoes starts "well, make it two and a half minutes then as I've queued up the wrong one" a quick blast of Blue Suede Shoes is heard again as Maconie & Lee fill then, finally, One Night With You is heard in all its' majesty. Peel is so impressed with that he jumps off the playlist to immediately play Pilarm's version of Long Tall Sally. During the ensuing discussion on the merits of Eilert's interpretations Peel notes
"Listening to that I geniuinely don't know and in a sense I don't want to know whether he's an incredibly clever bloke who's able to do that or just....".

Eilet makes his entrance about 22mins into part one.
Not to be confused...
...with this Norwegian take on the same song (through the medium of film).
