PLEASE tell me Luther will be recommissioned.
Bonkers, unbelievable, utterly brilliant.
And I have to know where they go from that final scene last night...

I thought this was going to be a joke.
How many people work at the BBC?
About a third of them!
Baddam-tish.
Outerwear sought and donned.
My sister in law
Works at the BBC, Sarah Harris, she is a reporter for local news in London.
Several...
... of my very best friends work there, too. What I wrote above was a "joke". Perhaps you've heard of them?

You won't get an answer my friend, because if Five Live is anything to go by, they are all away to the World Cup.
Not seen it myself....
....but the conventional critical wisdom seems to be that it's a disaster. Goes to show.
That depends...
If you view it through the usual lens used to evaluate TV cop dramas (through which you'd expect logical plotting, something approaching realistic narrative, bosses who've not been taught their accent by Dick Van Dyke, senior policeman who don't hang out with serial killers etc) then I imagine it was indeed a disaster.
But if you see it as pure entertainment, and compare it to something equally poe-faced yet entirely daft, it bears up well. The last 2 episodes were proper TV magic, taking the plot to extremes that no one could have expected. I think it probably only worked due to some great performances from classy actors - Idris Elba, Ruth Wilson, Steven Mackintosh among others - who put everything into it, despite knowing it was tosh. But tosh of the best kind.
And the final line of the series was just excellent, and must have reflected what every viewer was thinking.
Have an uppy thingy
For mentioning Saskia Reeve's completely bobbins chimmerny sweep accent. What was that all about? Did no-one on the show want to be the one to say anything to her?
Also, was I dreaming, or in last night's completely loopy finale, did she actually say something along the lines of: "I knew I shouttn't 'ave taken Loofah back. 'Ee's nitro-glisserin' and 'ee's liable to go orff!" I think she did....
I work at the BBC
I can say that Luther will be recommissioned.*
* I can't promise it will be, but you did ask for someone from the BBC to tell you that it will be, so there you go. It's not as good as Glee or The Mentalist, but we'll make sure it's back on in some form**
**I can't really guarantee that, obviously.
Really?
i watched the first two episodes out curiosity due to Idris Elba but gave up because it was garbage
and don't start me on that 'father & son' shite on itv this week-where was dougray scott's accent from? is this some kind of russ'see you jimmy' abbott revenge thing
Luther was complete tosh
but most enjoyable for all that. Last line was classic
I for one...
...will be looking forward to a second series. The next one needs a script editor to get rid of the nonsense and implausible stuff - what's left is really good and it definitely had some "best thing on at the moment" bits, especially the last 2 episodes.
