Great, isn't it?

The friend that pointed it out to me said I must watch the trailer. Deep breath...

I heart Celine

Poor Celine, she's such an easy target for keyboard drive-bys.

I have a respect for the lady for a few reasons.

a) She's refreshingly bonkers.
b) The Larry King interview post Hurricane Katrina. She was ballsy and passionate enough to call time on the spin coming from the White House.
c) The Elliott Smith encounter at the Oscars:

"Although the Academy Awards ceremony didn’t sit too well with Smith, and he, as well as his bright white suit, was trashed on television, he says it did force him to change his mind about Celine Dion, who performed right after he did. "She was really sweet, which has made it impossible for me to dislike Celine Dion anymore. Even though I can’t stand the music that she makes -- with all due respect I don’t like it much at all -- but she herself was very, very nice. She asked me if I was nervous and I said, ‘Yeah.’ And she was like, ‘That’s good because you get your adrenaline going, and it’ll make your song better. It’s a beautiful song.’ Then she gave me a big hug. It was too much. It was too human to be dismissed simply because I find her music trite." "

I was at the tables at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas...

... one night when her evening show was let out, and I have never seen such an excited crowd in my life - complete strangers (yes, plural) kept coming up to me and saying "You just have to go and see the Celine Dion show, it's amazing!"

I managed to resist the temptation (the $150 ticket price helped) but couldn't deny the enthusiasm of those fans.

My sister and all her friends went to see Celine.

She assures me it was brilliant.

Word people! Perhaps there really seriously should be an article on her, or Whitney or Maria? A decent writer could surely make a good fist of them as a subject?

More scope for a good story

than you'd get from a lot of rock bands.

But I can't get my head past somebody making a good fist of Mariah...
