Chris G's picture

my threshold is still sadly plopfree.
I'm going on along train journey in the next few days and it would reassuring to have one before I set off?

Melville | 11 February 2009 - 11:42am

Only the usual ones.

2 small yorkshire terriers, you know. Can't be/won't be house trained, little bastards.

0
Retropath2 | 11 February 2009 - 11:43am

Arrived chez moi

(in Norwich) at 10:52, just as I switched off the 'puter, thinking I might as well go for a walk.

Rethink ahoy!

0
nigelthebald | 11 February 2009 - 11:55am

Taking the day off

Just so I can catch it BEFORE it plops

0
Beany | 11 February 2009 - 11:57am

0
Mint | 11 February 2009 - 12:16pm

Yes, it's even reached as far north as Central Scotland now.

Turns *to do list* face down.

bigsteviecook | 11 February 2009 - 12:17pm

Southend yet

0
Mondo | 11 February 2009 - 12:26pm

Nothing in Battersea yet

0
Five-Centres | 11 February 2009 - 12:30pm

Nada....

Probably coming up using Knight Boat.

0
Six Dog | 11 February 2009 - 12:36pm

Nowt came here...

0
ganglesprocket | 11 February 2009 - 12:44pm

Not a Sausage

Post man yet to cause screams of joy in Derbyshire Dales. No snow since Sunday, schools all open, no flooding. The natives are restless.

0
N2Peach | 11 February 2009 - 12:47pm

Sweet FA In Chorlton

But I'm going to give the postie another half hour.

Andrew Rowan | 11 February 2009 - 12:53pm

Sweet FA In Chorlton

But I'm going to give the postie another half hour.

0
Andrew Rowan | 11 February 2009 - 12:53pm

Plopless in Pelsall

My doormat remains ungraced by the latest labour of love, alas.

0
Paul Vincent | 11 February 2009 - 12:53pm

Plop, Plop, Plop

Latest Word, a consignment from Amazon, and a copy of Egg's "The Civil Surface" (via eBay), all landed at once. Cue smiles all round, bottle of special Ardbeg wielded, and a fine Night In ensues...

0
Paul Vincent | 12 February 2009 - 1:07am

Should be

in Belfast within the fortnight then ....

0
Steven C | 11 February 2009 - 1:06pm

Waiting In Vain

I fear I may be waiting in vain this month as I may have been a little late in renewing my subscription. Looks like a trip to WH Smiths for this month and the plopping will resume next month.

0
Stringy | 11 February 2009 - 2:11pm

Official Distribution Update

I can confirm that all subs copies were posted on Monday, but if the Royal Mail nationally is anything like it is round my way, then they're still probably catching up from last week's snow trauma.

0
Fraser Lewry | 11 February 2009 - 2:16pm

I now have visions of Fraser...

schlepping to the local post office dragging a tartan shopping trolley full of subscriber editions

0
stimpy | 11 February 2009 - 2:38pm

Ploppage

Looks like I renewed in time after all as mine was waiting for me when I arrived home yesterday.

0
Stringy | 12 February 2009 - 2:20pm

Word has winged itself

successfully out to Windsor way. (No, I am not the Queen's magazine wrangler although I'm sure she subscribes. Big Decemberists fan apparently. And Prince Philip was behind the Squirrelgate thread)

0
DogFacedBoy | 11 February 2009 - 3:16pm

I gather

the royals, along with Otis Ferry, aren't too keen on Fleet Foxes, though.

Too difficult to catch, apparently. (All that reverb confuses the hounds.)

0
nigelthebald | 11 February 2009 - 3:50pm

Nothing for me in Royal Berkshire yet

but then I do come from the rough side of the M4...

0
Retro Man | 11 February 2009 - 5:35pm

Hurrah!

It's Wordy up North.
West.

0
ChaosandMorphine | 11 February 2009 - 3:06pm

Ditto

Personally dropped off in Notlob by Mark Ellen, I understand.

0
Beany | 11 February 2009 - 5:53pm

The Eagle has Landed

Oh Happy Day!

The post man has had the most rapturouse of wellcomes. The Word is in the house. Now the family wrangles start.

0
N2Peach | 11 February 2009 - 3:51pm

It's Arrived.

Crisis averted. Evening in with a fish pie and the Word awaits.

0
Andrew Rowan | 11 February 2009 - 4:30pm

Fish Pie

For supper, dinner or tea?

0
Retropath2 | 11 February 2009 - 4:36pm

Doesn't say where he is though......

...he'd need to be in Scotland to get a fish supper methinks.

0
bigsteviecook | 11 February 2009 - 4:47pm

It's tea in our house...

... it was pretty nice too.

0
Andrew Rowan | 12 February 2009 - 1:10pm

The Word arrives in Bradford...

still waiting for the 21st Century though.

0
paulwright | 11 February 2009 - 6:14pm

I shouldn't bother

with 21st cth when it turns up it's bobbins full of people twittering(it's like ceefax but without bamboozle) and doing bad covers of Leonard cohen records , the weather's bad oh and we are all skint.

0
Chris G | 11 February 2009 - 6:42pm

Crossed the Irish Sea...

Arrived early afternoon and checked through with a large mug of tea and the CD blasting out Mary Coughlan etc.

Sounds like it's not the same John Martyn who has died after all. The one in the magazine seems to be a lovely fella. A genius, an inspiration, kind to puppies and orphans, always bought his round, salt of the earth, etc., etc.

What happened to the curmudgeonly old sod on the cover a few months back?

0
spikemill | 11 February 2009 - 6:50pm

He died.

Makes all the difference.

Although lord only knows what the obits will find to say about Van's personality when his time comes - maybe he keeps kittens and does night shifts for The Samaritans?

0
stimpy | 11 February 2009 - 7:01pm

Hoping it has plopped

in sunny Yateley but given that I am still at my desk, I don't know for sure. It will give my journey home that little extra frisson of excitement that black ice alone can't manage.

0
Leedsboy | 11 February 2009 - 6:53pm

new

wheres my Word! my last issue didnt arrive either and had to ring up the subs people who were very nice and sent me another.

0
paintyface | 11 February 2009 - 7:18pm

0
Carl Parker | 11 February 2009 - 8:07pm

0
Danmac | 12 February 2009 - 10:37pm

Now I Can Escape From Watching Masterchef

Arrived Today Here In The East Midlands, Along With More Snow!

0
plumb1909 | 12 February 2009 - 11:55pm

Still no sightings

in the Southend area?

0
Mondo | 14 February 2009 - 6:30pm

they've been sent on the misery line

so maybe some time.

0
Chris G | 14 February 2009 - 8:02pm

Glory be

My copy arrived yesterday courtesy of my neighbour's small child!
Postman unable to get his van up my road due to snow and ice so left my post with the neighbour (150 yds away). Neighbour clearly realising my need of Wordy sustenance was prepared to potentially sacrifice his child to the icy wastelands to ensure safe delivery.
