Any King's X fans in the house?

Their music is possibly a little too robust for the Word blog, but I love this band. They made a string of fine albums in the late 80s/early 90s and the last I heard they were still together.
Their music is best described as melodic prog metal with touches of funk and soul.
This track in particular always reminds me of what The Beatles might sound like backed by Metallica. Or something.
You decide. From 1990, this is King's X with It's Love

Yep, me.
Haven't listened to them for ages but used to be a big fan. I remember some story that the guitarist considered his pick shape so important to his sound that he bought the machine that made them.
My favourite tune of theirs, Summerland:
Good choice
This is an interesting track. From around 3 mins in, it appears to be a series of false endings. So well done and brilliantly played.
We Were Born to Be Loved
Yep
Saw them at Nottingham Rock City in 1991. Perhaps a bit too Christian for me but still very good heavy nu-prog. I remember Simon Mayo once declaring that they were nearly as loud as A Flock of Seagulls, who had played the loudest gig he ever saw.
Doug
the bassist and lead singer, later came out as gay and chilled out about the religion stuff. I think the other two are still Christian though.
For me, King's X were great on their first three albums, but had diminishing returns thereafter. I've got a few of the later albums, but they don't get played much. I still play Faith, Hope and Love quite regularly.
Not from that album, but this is one of my faves, Power of Love combining their knack for great riffs with soul & gospel-inflected harmonies. It's so good, it almost makes me want to praise God.:
The Christian thing
used to bother me, too, but they never seemed too overt about it.
From their 1992 self titled album this is Black Flag
4 grown men
in a Piper Cub? They must be very, very close friends.
Saw them several times...
...in Glasgow and Edinburgh in the late-80s / early-90s. So tight and inventive. He played a 12-string bass! ha ha ha. Yes, the first three LPs are the best - the first two way better than the third, even.
There is only one debate as far as I know...
...are they pronounced "King's Ex" , as virtualy everyone I know does, or should it be "King's Cross", a bit like Moto-X was short for Motocross?
Or should I get out more?
A band a few of my mates like but I've never been a great fan apart from "Over my Head".
I know a few people
who still call them "King's Cross" but they're wrong. It is, of course, "King's Ex"
This is pretty good too
Reminds me I should did the first couple of albums out and give my ears a blast.
