Any body else watching Nigel Kennedy on the Proms?

Jeff Beck giving it plenty of fretwank...references to Hendrix...Paul morley sitting on the sofa being an expert...the Coronation Street theme? I'm confused..

I can't tell you...

....just how grateful I am to be not watching that particular spectacle. It's been put together just to be talking point so I think our best revenge is not to talk about it.

OK..not another word. By the way....

..I've been dipping into that collection of 78s and my dad was right about Benny Goodman...

I wouldn't mind betting...

...that your dad was right about lots of things.

I watched the jazz part.

thought it was ok. I have a bit of time for Nigel Kennedy. Paul Morley must be struggling with the mortgage payments mind.....

WTF

Well I watched it because I like a bit of Jeff Beck and for him to be on live telly up against 'Last Choir Standing' on primetime Sadderday night was noteworthy.

It was all very odd though. Nigel Kennedy remains a thoroughly nice man if still painfully affected and awkward in his personal manner. He played some modern jazz dressed in an Aston Villa home shirt with some Polish people. Which sums everything up pretty much.

I don't think Jeff Beck will be guesting on Ant and Dec anytime soon, after that.
