Another one bites the dust
With the death of Hugh Lloyd at the age of 85, there goes the last of those wonderful comic actors who were part of the repertory company of Tony Hancock. Whenever we're recalling the recovery ward section of "The Blood Donor" (which we should do regularly because it is after all the funniest, saddest, wisest take on the bollocks that men talk ever written) we should never forget that half the credit should go to Lloyd whose willingess to be impressed played so perfectly to Hancock's eagerness to do the impressing.
Lloyd: Are you a doctor then?
Hancock: No, I never really bothered.
Who's left of that generation of brilliant comic foot soldiers?

Graham Stark is still with us...
...as is Ian Carmichael, and of course, Bernard Cribbens.
Hugh and I
A very early memory indeed. Fabulous stuff. I think, it's been 40 years, at least, since I saw it.
Ad ?
Someone told me he featured in an ad for biscuits in the late 80's , is that true ?
Chester City
has lost its most famous supporter.
Back in the 60's and early 70's the programme would regularly note under the teams "Match ball donated by Hugh Lloyd".
Of The Blood Donor
only Frank Thornton and June Whitfield are still with us.
What about Patrick Cargill?
"We're not all Rob Roys."
