Another mflow code
Posted by LOUDspeaker on 10 January 2011 - 11:57am.
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but another mflow.com code has surfaced. MYFIVEMUSIC will get you £5.
FYI The following codes might, or might not, still work:
BIRDISTHEWORD - £1
THIRDISTHEWORD - £1
XMAS - £1
TN736X - £1
FLYTOME code gets you the second Flight of the Conchords album.
trontastic gets you the Tron Legacy Soundtrack

Where do you put in the code?
Sorry if I'm being dense.
You have to log in
to your account - if you are using the application click on Help>Account Information>Home [top of the page] you will then see your user name at the top right hand side of the page. Click on that & then select 'Redeem Code' from the drop down menu.
Here's another code FLOWOFTHEYEAR will get you 'The Cave' by Mumford and Sons.
A partial success
Got the credit, and it said I had the 'trontastic' code redeemed; but when I bought Tron Legacy it deducted the cost from my credit (so the Tron code hadn't worked).
Still, an album for nowt, so thanks very much.
When I used it
the Tron album was automatically put into the "tracks to download" section without me having to do anything. You may have acquired it twice if you bought it as well. Had it added an albums worth of extra credit in the first instance so you're no worse off?
Yep, that's what happened.
I had it twice without realising. Hey ho.
Dead
That one's expired. .... keep them coming though!
Here's another one. RELENTLESS - it gives you 5 tracks that you may or may not want.
When you're logged in
go to your account and click on redeem code - enter it from there.
Wow!
They all work! I now have the Tron soundtrack and £9 of credit for nothing! Thanks!
Many thanks
Mr Speaker. Still working as of 6pm...
What the
hell is this all about?
Explanation
Mflow is a relatively new download service that has quite a lot of stuff on it from majors. Over the holiday period they were doing an excellent deal when everything was 20p a track - it isn't anymore. Periodically they dish out codes that can be redeemed for credit. There was a thread on here about it which is why people are now assuming that we all know about it which is always a danger. There are other ways of earning credit on the site without buying anything - I've earned 26p so far!!! I'm thinking of giving up the day job. It's well worth the punt - you can get lots of free stuff without having to put in any credit card details.
I'd assumed this post
was spam
Thanks for these. I'm not
Thanks for these. I'm not really much of a downloader, I just use We7 or Spotify if I want to listen to something on my computer and rarely listen to music on the go. That said I had a look around and discovered some goodies. Firstly Paul Simon and Elbow's covers of Peter Gabriel songs as part of Gabriel's 'Scratch My Back' project. Then Richard Thompson's 2006 '1000 Years of Popular Music' recording, for slightly more than the remaining credit I had. Rather naughtily, I set up another Mflow account with another e-mail address, added in the free codes again and 'bought' it. (In fairness, I was never going to buy this on CD as I already have the previous CD release of the show and many of the tracks are duplicated.)
I assume as this is free credit in an account that I can spend on anything, the artist isn't the one who has to bear the costs, and old Ricky T is benefiting from me legally downloading an album I wouldn't normally have ever bought (even if I'm being somewhat unfair on Mflow). Or am I being naive?
Chris
Update on codes...
I've just tried all the codes mentioned in this thread. They've pretty much all expired now (how disappointing, I particularly wanted the Tron Legacy soundtrack).
The only one still working is FLYTOME (Flight of the Conchords).
Still! One free album is much better than no free albums, so I'm not complaining. Thank you all for the tip-off.
I've just used MYFIVEMUSIC
I've just used MYFIVEMUSIC and got £5 credit. Many thanks to the original poster. Have just dowloaded the new British Sea Power album out today, Have got the first 10 tracks for free as have flowed them on Twitter. Nice one !!
Brilliant
I overlooked MYFIVEMUSIC in the OP, just tried it after reading yours, and got my £5 credit.
HOORAH!
Every track for 20p again...
with this code: testvariable6
Fill yer boots!
Thanks
Thanks - that made the last £5 free credit go much further than I expected it to!
Note for others - I used the code last night and it was fine but everything is back to the normal price this morning so I don't know if the code has expired r if there's a time limit that it works for I didn't log out between price changes.
unfortunately
I didn't get to use it myself! Code worked fine when I put it in. Then I stepped away from the computer for ten minutes... and all the prices reset themselves to normal. I can't apply the code again.
So. If you want to use that code, find the music you want first, then apply code and buy immediately!
multiple accounts
Don't forget that there doesn't appear to be a limit to the amount of accounts you can open. Open up a new one, sort out what you want, activate the code, make sure its worked and stick some cash in your account.
Thanks, it worked fine
Just entered the code and everything reset to 20p, I have now used up all of my remaining credit, then having read your experience I logged out and back in. Currently its still at 20p. Bargain !
30 MInute limit
I just read elsewhere that the code lasts for 30 minutes only and can't be re entered. So choose your tracks, then apply the code
Another 20p code
Here's another one.
20x20
Works once only in your account then everything is 20p for 20 hours. Valid until 1st Feb.
Primal Scream
If anyone wants 31 Primal Scream tracks (the "Dirty Hits" compilation) then try this code:
FRIDAYFB
Worked for me a couple of hours ago.
Brilliant!
Just worked for me too. Thanks muchly.
It worked for me as well.
Not a code as such
But some albums there have an Easter Egg symbol next to them, and clicking on that (then "liking" on Facebook) gives reductions down as far as £1 for an album!
There's a growing list on the mflow Facebook page, but it includes The Naked and Famous, Elbow's new one, Vaccines...
Best Value
This must be their best value offer yet. So far I've located the following Word friendly downloads for a pound each...
Suburbs - Arcade Fire
Mayhem Imelda May
The People's Key - Bright Eyes
Blessed Lucinda Williams
National Ransom Elvis Costello
I've also got a Facebook account now - I don't know what I'm going to do with that though!
I've also just grabbed a 33 track best of ABC which can't be bad. Has anyone found anything else?
In case there are any newcomers to MFlow reading this, the site isn't usually as unresponsive as it is at the moment (it's actually appallingly bad) so be patient, the offer is on until Easter so I expect it'll calm down in a few days time.
How does this work?
I've liked the album and it says I can buy it for a quid or less but the full price still shows and nothing happens when I press buy.
Refresh
I think you need to do at least one refresh so that you effectively come to the page fresh. I'm using two different browsers, I'm doing the "like" in Chrome and then finding the album in Firefox to do the download. When I do that the price for the album is always showing as £1.00 even though the individual tracks are still top whack.
Thanks, , the site is running like
the proverbial dog with no legs... Managed to get there in the end.
Update the Like button has now disappeared for easter eggs, grr!!!
The Queen Remasters
The recently issued Queen remasters (that's 'Queen', 'Queen II', 'Sheer Heart Attack', 'A Night at the Opera' and 'A Day at the Races'), plus 'Absolute Greatest' are all in the promo. Just make sure you go for the Deluxe editions if you want the bonus tracks, as there are also 'vanilla' versions there too.
Also 'Dermot O'Leary Presents The Saturday Sessions', with loads of session tracks from his Radio 2 show is in the promo - 40 tracks, though I picked it up pretty much solely for The Divine Comedy's cover of MGMT's 'Time to Pretend', which I don't think is available anywhere else. It's a good compilation, though.
A code just for today...
PLAYA
;-)
Rip Off!
I'm outraged! Some of the albums that cost me a pound yesterday are now down to 99p!! I reckon I must be nearly 10p down on the deal - that'll teach me to be impetuous in grabbing a bargain!
What I will say is that it shows
if the price is right people will still buy music online. I know this is a bit extreme at £1 a go but the site is clealry being overwhelmed by traffic.
tips
If you look for Deluxe editions, or original album series you come across a number of those things we are all so tempted by in FOPP. Except for £1. Oh, and Trojan box sets for £1.
So far I've bought the new Edwyn Collins and Glasvegas, Springsteen's the Promise, Live and Dangerous, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt cowboy, Gil scott heron 3 pack. Oh, and JLS for my kids. (the shame)
Elton John
I grabbed that EJ album at the weekend as well. It made me recall all the fuss that was made about the original vinyl release when it came out. It was the most expensive single album ever (I think it was £3.75!) but they mitigated the price hike by adding a couple of flimsy booklets. At today's prices I paid about £23 back in 1975! A pound was a bargain - no booklets though!
I got eight albums for eight quid.
Can't be bad. At those prices, I took a few risks: Imelda May, The Naked And Famous, Rihanna, Noah And The Whale, the new Elbow. None of which I would've bought if I'd been paying £7.99.
Result.
Easter Egg
Johnny Cash - Unearthed box set. 79 tracks for a £1, I've been laying on the settee all afternoon listening to it.
AMAZING
cheers Andy!
Royalties
Thanks for that - grabbed it last night. You wonder how much the artist gets though......
Doesn't seem to be active now, that offer.
:-(
grab it while you can
Interesting... they said that new albums would be added through the promotion so I assume some will be taken away as well. I think I'll grab the rest of the ones I've already found, later on.
glasvegas
their new one is up there, as is Edwyn Collins. I am looking to download people ahead of Latitude - I want to know what is worth seeing. Sadly no cheap bunneymen or Jenny Lewis.
Excellent stuff! Thanks.
Found a big list of albums which are included in the Easter Egg offer:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/mp3-albums-1-less-mflow/911301?page=7
Steve Winwood
Not included on that list, but Revolutions Deluxe is 58 tracks for £1. Less than 2p each.
Am now up to £12 spent and 315 tracks - that's about 4p each.
I assume that they are just burning through startup money at mflow.
Too late
lots of the really good deals have disappeared. Including that one - though the standard version is still on offer.
Is anyone else finding...
...that everything they've downloaded from mflow as a part of this deal skips and pops? I'm getting little pops at the rate of one or two per track. It's bloody annoying.
No
I've only listened to a few so far and mainly with headphones but I haven't noticed anything untoward. Have you tried opening the files up in something like Audible or Goldwave to see if the "pops" are visible? If they are, try downloading the track again and see if the files are different.
I have previously found
that some of the tracks seem to download "short" i.e. cut off anything up to a minute before the end of the track. They're difficult to spot too as the ipod seems to suggest that a track is normal length but then when there's 30 seconds left the progress bar just jums to the end and onwards to the next track.
I've sorted these by redownloading the track but it is annoying. I've taken the view that they were being downloaded cheap so part of the bargain is a little bit of hassle.
Track skipping
I had the situation were any album I downloaded played fine on the PC but skipped the first track when I put it on the iPod. I scoured the web and came up with a solution. Convert the tracks to AAC and they should play perfectly. I did it, and so far no problems at all
Dylan Mono remasters (2010)
Quite a few of the Dylan Mono remasters are £1 - I lashed out £2 on Blonde On Blonde and Highway 61 Revisited. They sound lovely.
I'll be getting the Steve Winwood too.
Watch out........
....I lined up a few albums earllier this afternoon - all had the Easter Egg next to them - I topped up my account, went back to the albums and they have all revertedcto full price!
Seems a bit of a rip off to me but I don't know if anyone else has had the same problem?
Apologies
Please ignore the above rant of mine!
I emailed mflow yesterday and, today, someone has kindly got back to me, apologised and given me a little credit top-up. Very good of mflow.
Seems it was just a genuine case of bad timing - they were updating/changing their prices whilst I was logged on.
that's good to know
glad it got sorted!
