Andy Partridge's 'Ape Loves Haiti' Compilation
Can I just plug the following. Not only is it for a very good cause it features Word faves Pugwash, Peter Blegvad and of course, label owner, the mighty Andy Partridge out of XTC.
Although it is a V/A comp a lot of the tracks feature the talents of the 'Mayor of Simpleton' Hitmaker himself in different configurations. We hear Andy Partridge solo, his improvised music as Monstrance (featuring original XTC keyboardist Barry Andrews) and Harold Budd, plus he lends his tones to a fine track by Swindon Sound collective Lighterthief which I'm particularly taken with. It's all marvellous listening and if Simon Cowell's stable of artistes or the Shane Macgowan shoutfest ain't yer musical bag then make this your next purchase.
