Andy Kershaw is back back BACK

Richie B's picture

Tonight on Radio 3 at 9pm, Andy Kershaw is exploring the music of the oceans, in the first of a series of travelogues. He will be speaking to Fishermen, but I do not yet know whether he is a Dab hand at fish puns. Great news for all Kershaw fans, sorry fins.

Is there a plaice for him on radio anymore?

I've haddock nuff of him

Five-Centres | 13 January 2011 - 3:29pm

Music of the oceans?

Like salmon chanted evening?

clivetemple | 13 January 2011 - 3:37pm

I really thought

He'd had his chips.
He did make a rod for his own back.
In fact, he was floundering for a while.
Some people might still carp about him.
But I'll say this for Andy - he's got an ear for a good tuna.
And now he's back on the radio, he must feel like he's living the bream.

drakeygirl | 13 January 2011 - 3:44pm

No doubt...

...he will be playing a tuna two.

Good to see

Shady Wanker* back on the radio - no doubt he'll be playing some sole music.

(*it's an anagram of Andy Kershaw, as anyone who listened to his radio debut on Leeds' Radio Aire will know)

1
Humphrey Plugg | 13 January 2011 - 4:29pm

Is he related to

Colin Wanker? (Neil Warnock)

It's great to have him back

He's clearly been to a really dark plaice, and I just hope that the eeling process is short and that he doesn't flounder again.

2
Pax Romana | 13 January 2011 - 5:32pm

I won't joke about his hard times, because...

turbot for the grace of God go I.

He was a DJ

Used to have a mullet.

1
clivetemple | 13 January 2011 - 7:29pm

I think Andy's put some weight on.

He's looking a bit chubby.

something about

Hey Hey I wanna be a Rock Star-fish by Stickleback
or Sprat in Your Lap by Skate Bush?

(it's more an oilskin than a coat...)

Hake Today, Prawn Tomorrow

Don't you think we've netted enough fish puns? We've cast far and wide and the Massive has taken the bait (as well as the biscuit). After all, moderation is good for the shoal.

0
Baskerville Old Face | 14 January 2011 - 11:57am

What a load of old pollocks you're all talking

I'm off to find a thread about Laura Marlin

0
Uncle Monty | 14 January 2011 - 12:19pm

I may regret restarting this thread

But wasn't it great to hear him on the Today programme this morning? On for 5 minutes to discuss the new Radiohead album and we had three classic comments:

"Calling an album a “grower” is usually a critic’s way of saying ‘there’s no good tunes on it’”

"Rock music started to go wrong with the release of Sgt Pepper"

"most rock bands have only 2 good albums in them. After that they should shut up and stop boring the arse off us"

And his parting shot:
Justin Webb "Will you be listening to Radiohead's new album?
AK "Certainly not!"

Doesn't matter if you agree with him or not, give this man his radio show back!
