Amy Winehouse's Dad

Is it me or was the letter about Ms. Winehouse's Dad almost exactly the same as Mr Ellen's very amusing anecdote re. the same on last weeks podcast?

Is Mr Ellen writing letters to his own magazine? We should know.

Stir it up

I suspected this too. I think Mark Ellen also wrote the one describing David Hepworth as pompous.

How *dare* you?

I would like to assure all visitors to the Word site that the person who called me "pompous" was a genuine reader.

Mark Ellen restricts his remarks about me to the adjective "Northern" and the compound noun "short-arse".

Whose is supposedly from?

(Mine hasn't arrived yet. The burros are on strike.)

Can't remember - mags at home

but the writer was from Twickenham (or somewhere close) which is suspiciously close to Barnes where Mr Ellen's local is. I have this lovely image of a laughing Macca lookalike driving to the next town to post the letter so the postmark doesn't give it away.

Macca lookalike?

I was struck by how Mr Ellen appears to be mutating into Derek Nimmo.

CarlP | 10 June 2008 - 11:12pm

Derek Nimmo

The rocking vicar.

M'lud, I believe the term

M'lud, I believe the term used for this sort of behaviour is "sock-puppetry".
