American Comedy Help

RobertC's picture

I was talking to a colleague about recent comedy programmes and I'm trying to identify one which they are unaware of. I don't watch much TV at all really (but not in some pseudo-intellectual Radio 4 way) mainly my dvd collection and the odd documenatry and Newsnight etc. on I Player mainly, but about a year or so ago I caught about five minutes of an American comedy that seemed to be set in the deep south and it appeared to be about some fellow trying to sort out his karma, which I thought was a pretty novel idea for a comedy. I only caught a snippet and it appeared to be very funny. My colleague doesn't seem to know what I'm talking about. Does anyone know what it was called, and was it as good as the brief bit I saw seemed to suggest ?

My Name is Earl

Ok to start with, ran out of steam pretty soon in my opinion.

First two series are very good

I think, the third is a little more mezzo mezzo but still quite fun and the fourth and final series ran out of steam more than a little. 'Earl' still pops up on E4 quite a bit so you can get up to speed without major botheration.
