My chums from the tribute circuit tell me that From The Jam have a new drummer - one Mick Avory - and are "writing new material". Seriously, what's the point?

Sounds *exciting*...
Down At The Bingo Hall At 7pm should be a corker.
It's easy to be disparaging...
...about this sort of thing, but what's the problem? The blokes in the band enjoy playing and there's an audience out there for them.
Kind of agree,
although when only one of the members of the band is actually 'from the Jam' it does stretch things to breaking point doesn't it?
Fully agree, and I would add...
Even if there weren't an audience for them, who are we to say "No, you mustn't create any new material!"?
That would depend
if you'd created the band in order to play old Jam material or not. I'm guessing the queue for the bar during the section where "From The Jam" do a few numbers from the new album would be slightly longer than at other times.
Drummer alert.
Apparently it's actually Mark Brzezicki. He was a Big Country member.
What happened to Buckler?
Reformation of Time UK on the cards?
If it's just Foxton, will "Freak" get an airing or a few SLF numbers?
Or Avory tub thumping to "All Day and All of the Night" or Mark Unpronouncablesurname banging out "Harvest Home"?
Sure - there's nothing wrong with a few old blokes enjoying themselves by banging out a set of cover versions (as I do) but to keep the USP "From the Jam" pretence is now stretching it a little bit...
Maybe Weller was right after all.....what price dignity?
Buckler quit
Rumour has it Foxton is playing some bass on the new Weller album and Buckler threw a fit.
Allegedly.
