All hail Gram Parsons

Following David Hepworth's rediscovering of Al Green, I've just had a similar experience with the Flying Burritto Brothers.

Is this not one of the most spine-tingling pieces of music ever recorded?

Wonderful.

Absolutely

I played this to my daughter a week ago, just before her singing exam. She was worried that her technique wasn't good enough. I put this on to convey the importance of real feeling over the perception of technically proficient singing. Not to say that this fails on any level; but I think Parsons is a great example of someone who had a sometimes weak - but, more often than not, gut- wrenchingly poignant - voice.

Yeah....

...first heard this on Stuart Maconie's Critical List around 2001, was absolutely floored by it. A genuinely moving track, and I love that pedal-steel solo in it too.

Oh yes....

...indeed.

Beautiful.
