Adrian Younge
I've been listening to a terrific record called Something about April by Adrian Younge (no, I'd never heard of him either). Sort of blaxploitation-Stax-Frederick Knight feel to it, with modern accoutrements. Terrific vocals (mainly female), great tunes. Happened on it quite by accident. Cheap on eMusic.
Black Keys record seems pretty good too.
