ELP swing!
Who woulda thunk it?!
This is going to be a hoot...
Noooooo!
I just caught the farewells. Will have to catchup on the iPlayer thingy. C'est la vie.
Thanks for the tip on programme
here's the link for anyone who might find it useful:

up to midday next Saturday
great interview
and he asked the question I've always wanted to ask...
just what was Tarkus all about?
First album I ever bought. And almost the last.
Try this
for a supergroup cover version with Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) & Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree)
Benny The Bouncer
I wonder if DB ever has the Average White Band
on he'll change back to them being "the greatest live band he's ever seen".. how does the old saw go sometimes right sometimes wrong always certain.
Not an ELP fan...
...but that was genuinely enjoyable. They seemed so delighted that someone interviewing them was a genuine fan and knew their stuff.
Indeed
and that he hadn't seen them on TOTP ...

(I am fond of them myself, I should add-greatly enjoyed hearing this show).
Bloody nora...
that is quite possibly the worst song I've ever heard. Shocking.
They did the right thing to call it a day after that.
How can you say that Patrick?
The track is taken fron possibly the greatest ELP LP ever, Love Beach.
Yayyyy! Got you going then - it's acknowledged, even by hardened ELPophiles to be utter tosh. I did include the location Love Beach on the The Word/Rocking Vicar t'internet map as it is yer actual name for the beach, rather than the name of a beach for lurve.
I'm sure there's far worse by others out there
but yes, it was a good moment to pause ...my friend Dom whose love for ELP was considerable, and who had introduced me to them, had a somehat rueful air at school that day.
Honour was somewhat restored by the live album from the Montreal shows.
But I like 'em still, in the sense that I saw one of the reunion showin the early 90s and play the odd track-and it was great fun to hear them being mobbed by a fan ;-)
Only heard the end of it
But looking forward to catching up with the podcast as usual.
I'm beginning to think I may be Danny Baker. Same age, brought up in same part of London, same taste in music, same, erm, generous build.
What's lacking? Oh yes, wit and talent. That's it.
But give him his due...
He tries.
Thankee for this Steve
I've lapsed in my DB listening but that linky set the whole tone for my day - feelin' guid and dead relaxed.
Am I meringue or did Dan call Greg 'Rick' not once but twice?
Yes, and a certain Mr. Hepworth of this parish...
... should hang his head in shame not knowing they were once on the Island label. I first heard Knife Edge on the 'El Pea' compilation. On Island.
some of us
and say this in hushed tones, still have vinyl proof of that firm of solicitors on Island
