A shout out for massive help

Danmac's picture

My mate has bought herself an ipod touch and seems to think she can download stuff from the bbc iplayer to play on the ipod the same way as podcats ect . Is this correct ? I do not have a telly and don't use the iplayer but her notion seems odd to me . I said ( ok boasted ) last night that I knew just the people to ask.

If I am wrong and she is right how is it done ?

Thanks Dan

Short answer

is that it is possible, but convoluted. I posted the same question a few weeks back and you have to download the iplayer files using some additional software. Seems ok if you are on Mac and a little harder on pc. I use a pc and haven't got round to trying it yet.

Here is a link to the earlier thread -> http://www.wordmagazine.co.uk/content/ipod-touchiphone-bbc-iplayer

Thanks lee

like most women of a certain age every bugger seems to be on her pc, so to me it is as slow as a wet week.

Last night I showed her how to do downloads and music for herself then she asked this and i was stuck .

Cheers Lee

Radio easy, TV harder

If you are talking about the radio shows on the iplayer then it is indeed a doddle. There's a downloader that you can get here
http://po-ru.com/projects/iplayer-downloader/
that allows you to download ready tagged MP3 files that you can drag into itunes and then onto the ipod.
TV is a bit harder.

that software does TV as well

saves them as mp4 I think. Use it myself. Occasionally fails but it's usually because it needs an update by the author.
