A little moan about the glue on the cover cds.....

stickboymusic's picture

....well im pretty sure it must have been mentioned in a previous post and may even seem like a rather dull thing to talk about but is it just me and my carelessness or does everyone else find that when removing the cover cd from word magazine the glue comes off the magazine just fine but when you start yanking the sticky little substance from the actual card cd case it rips.....everytime?!

I used to be a subscriber... this meant my cd was in the envelope with the mag and not attached...is this the only way to get a complete track listing on the back on the cd rather than some patchwork listing that ive tried to piece back together?!

ahh well

Not an issue for me

as a subscriber, because it comes through the letterbox in that plastic bag type thing so there's no glue involved, but it DOES piss me off when the cover CDs on some other mags (not mentioning any names so as not to embarrass Mojo) are stuck with so much glue that it's impossible to get the excess glue off the cover when you've taken the CD off, with the result that anything that gets within a 5 yard radius of the mag ends up stuck to the cover.

As for getting a tracklisting,

insert the CD into your computer and open a media player (itunes or Windows Media Player or something). A tracklisting will miraculously appear on your screen.

ermm..

computer? media player?

well obviously i can get the tracklisting...i mean its in the magazine....

but i like to put the cds in my car (oh what an old fashioned person i am) and sometimes just like to have a look at what the track is.

I do like the nice slim card that the cds come in its just obviously not glossy enough to take the ermm...snot.

Top Tip...

"Roll" the glue off slowly. Should work without damaging your eco friendly sleeve.

The resultant ball can then takes the appearance of a rather large bogey. Great for embarrassing Nanna!

Even better if you then

attach said large bogey to the end of your nose and try to kiss a nearest and dearest or one of the kids. Hours of fun to be had. And all included in the price. Wonderful!

Danny Kelly...

... (who claims to have invented the cover-mounted CD concept when at Q), says that the industry word for the cover-mount glue is, appropriately enough, 'snot'.

I do believe...

... that in the trade, the correct word for the clear, sticky, jelly that holds CDs onto magazines is, in fact, "snot".

Cold

Somebody once told me that if you leave the magazine in the fridge for a couple of hours, it's easier to peel off the CD without causing any damage.

I did try this, and I have to say it didn't make any difference.

However

Your copy was much fresher I'm sure.

Not the freezer?

I thought everything is supposed to work better after a spell in the freezer.
