A Family Affair

Gatz's picture

For those of us not fortunate enough to be at the Fairport celebration at the Barbican, here's the encore with Richard Thompson, a chilly looking Linda Thompson and Teddy and Kamila Thompson in tow as well.

A lovely song

I can understand how some might find it overly sentimental.

However, given the sometimes tragic history of the band, I think it always carries a certain resonance.

And all the more so, given all the musical Thompsons on stage together.

Excuse me, I, harrumph, have something in my eye...

A small pang or regret

that I didn't bother getting tickets to Cropredy this year.

Was Ric Sanders not there?

And does anybody think RT looks a bit "semi-detached" in the staging?

Quite, well..., and yes.

Cropredy tickets are still available, including Saturday only ones. FC, RT, The Artist formely known as Cat Stevens, Dreadzone and, um, Nik Kershaw.
Apparently RT is appearing with Dave Swarbrick on Friday night. No "rehearsal issues" there, apparently.
To be fair, Ric Sanders is a man who cannot resist the opportunity to arpreggiate and delay, and so I'd guess they went with the Swarb-lite option on the fiddle front. No Gerry Conway either, which, even given that they played Fotheringay, may have been a batteretiste too far.
