I don't,
Like Peter Cleall ,I need Tunes.
make it £20
and I'll take em off your hands.
Sorry
It's not enough money to make me listen to five Mahavishnu Orchestra CDs
Lads, lads...
...it's the bargain of the century: you KNOW it is! :-D
Anyway... how wonderful, to see a Mahavishnu Orchestra thread around here started by someone other than me! Who'da thunk it?
i started one
yesterday
In the great scheme of things, Colin,
wither Shakti?
I want this on the record...
...in front of witnesses... with trained negotiators standing by...
You're saying, Carl, that you want me to start a colossal Shakti thread...?*
(* waits for sound of Massive shouting 'Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!')
Strangely
I have 2 Mahavishnu albums (Inner Mounting Flame & Birds of Fire) but no Shakti. Yet I would say I much prefer Shakti.
It's probably something to do with the ready availability of the respective CDs.
Let the march commence to the peak of Mount Shakti!
Oh look David Soul's Greatest Hits...£3.99
Following the TOTP 1977 programme I'll buy that instead.
Bargain?
They're £10.99 on Amazon and on play.com!
So, this Mahavishnu Orchestra...
Are they any good? What do we reckon?
Well...
....(refers Vincent to multi-thousand posts passim; spares Massive days of undeserved agony...)
£12.29?
That's still £2.46 per song. Hardly a bargain.
Fan...
...tastic! :-D
(and almost not ENTIRELY inaccurate)
Nope,
never heard of them. Jazz Funk are they?
At the risk of succumbing to national stereotype
You're better with Play than Amazon because you can get Quidco cash back with Play.
I have to say that the music itself is like a very rich meal. It is fantastic but takes a bit of digestion. I have listened to all 5 once - to scope the job, so to speak - and am now busy falling in love with The Inner Mounting Flame. The most intense guitar I have ever heard.
Indeedy-do, Lando...
....and let us celebrate that with this August 1972 BBC-shortened medley of two IMF classics from the days when blistering fusion got prime time on UK TV: 'Meeting Of The Spirits' and 'You Know, You Know' - because we do, we do!
It might interest Word bloggers to know that legendary folkmeister Martin Carthy canvcelled a gig in order to catch this again when it was repeated shortly after the first broadcast.
No thanks.
Not a masochist, though I could use for sadistic purposes.
Think of it as Like a Hurricane
Played at 78 instead of 33. The guitar bits I mean.
Do you
genuinely like this tosh,Colin or is it some Post Modernist ironic gag being played on the massive ?
'Post Modernist gag'!?
...Croutmeister, I couldn't be more serious if I tried: the Mahavishnu Orchestra is the pinnacle of all popular music. Surely you must see that...?*
(*okay, accepts that others might not, but still lives life to a soundtrack of MO music)
Plunge taken
My 5CD bundle of joy arrived this morning.
Here goes. Wish me luck.
You'll not regret it, Catmeister...
...bliss awaits, bliss awaits...
An amusing tangent...
...(well, it amused me, anyway) I've just noticed the can of Gillette shaving gel I've been using the past few weeks is called... FUSION!
Can it be that Gillette's products are subliminally affecting my judgement? If so... I'm off to Tesco to stock up on a crate of the stuff! :-D
Sorry
Not for nuthin' would I give that house room
